Title: Clean Air Act of Texas
Post by: gatorback on January 09, 2008, 07:10:43 PM
So Austin is getting a $350 Million dollar wind farm which that is starting construction month.  wow.  I love this town.  The Mayor speaks out on global warming.  Does Playton speak on capacity and environmental affects?  Texas is leading the way I heard that it's extraordinally costly but they're doing it.

I love wind farms.  I saw my first while driving along the coast of CA a few years back...saw this great big white things just over a hill along the horizon...whizzing and twirling like giant albatros.  It was magnificent.  Unfortunately, that type of energy wouldn't do well here in FL.  We only have that kind of wind during hurricaine season and even then it's very little.

I think Florida needs a Clean Air Act.   Go GE!

Houston -- GE Energy Financial Services, the investment arm of General Electric, said Wednesday it will invest in a $350 million wind-generation project to supply the city of Austin with renewable energy.

The parties involved did not disclose a financial breakdown of the deal, which will enhance Texas' position as the nation's leader in wind-generated energy.

GE said project developer Renewable Energy Systems Americas is set to begin construction of the wind farm this month in Shackelford County about 30 miles northeast of Abilene. The project is scheduled to be completed in December.
