It llooks like Springfield is finally going to get a grocery store. http://www.myspringfield.org/General/julies-urban-grocery.html It looks well done. Whos doing it?
I'm not sure. I plan to run a story on it when I get more details. However, this was in the Jax Daily Record a few weeks back:
QuoteJulie’s Urban Grocery, 1501 N. Main St., contractor is Cesery Properties Inc., alterations and repairs, 4,105 square feet, $10,000
Words cannot express how happy I am to have this a few blocks from my house. I imagine that it will be similar to Grassroots. (Hopefully, with a similar beer selection!) Lake, definitely let us know if you find out more about the project.
Great work as usual by Content Design. I'm not so fond of the rainscreen/metal shutters on the front windows, however. The large windows are what make this property so beautiful. Also, I imagine that seeing neatly stacked produce, etc. from the street would help draw in customers.
This will be a great addition to Main street!!
Wow that looks great. I wonder if they will go with a Trader Joes type store? If the building looks that good and they market themselves well I think this will be a success.
Wow this is exactly what main street and springfield needs! Too bad I just bought a house on the westside, my lazy ass wants to move to springfiled now so I can get my groceries delivered.! LOL
This is cool with me. I'm finalizing plans that will have me staying within a block of this place.
I wonder if the building was leased or sold; it was an absolute disaster on the inside

Its owned by Cesery and will be leased by the business owner. I believe it will be a long term lease.

Well good for you Lake ::) Looks like I miss the boat on this one. This store is only one of its kind in the city isnt it?
Great! Maybe more will businesses will follow.

Opening up one in San Marco, too.
AWESOME.
wow the one in San Marco will be right around corner from where i work, nice!
Awesome. Both locations will benefit greatly from this.
Accessible from the Northbank by Skyway. So hopefully this can be the downtown specialty grocery market people have been craving for.

Does anyone know which location will be open first Springfield or Southbank?

No word yet.
Today Iwas walking around the Southbank near Tidbits, saw a grahics shop that was outfitting red Smartcars with Julie's Grocery logos. They looked pretty cool.

Where exactly is the location? I know San Marco pretty well, pass it everyday, but yet to see any signal regarding the grocery?
^Corner of Prudential and Kings Ave (1520 Prudential)

It's not in San Marco, it's on the "Southbank" of Downtown. Technically.
Yeah, it's basically across the street from Kings Avenue Station. So when it opens, it should be the answer to the cry of everyone who claims that they'd like to see a grocery store downtown that's not Winn-Dixie.
