His house was drawn out of the district into Sandy Adams district, so they will be battling it out for the new district 7 centered on Seminole county.
District 6 has already attracted the owner of Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Craig Miller, and another millionaire Republican lobbyist and former prosecutor Ron DeSantis.
QuoteLast week also, U.S. Rep. John Mica said he is leaving the Northeast Florida congressional delegation to run for a Central Florida seat; U.S. Rep. Cliff Stearns announced he was moving to run for a new North-Central district; state Rep. Mike Weinstein said he is running for his House seat, not the state Senate; and Jacksonville prosecutor Ron DeSantis announced he is running for an open coastal congressional seat.

No Democrat has announced for district 6 as of yet and it might remain that way as it has in the past, since it continues to be a heavily Republican district.
QuoteDemocrats first in with redistricting brief to court
by John Kennedy | February 17th, 2012
The Florida Democratic Party filed its legal brief Friday with the state Supreme Court, opposing House and Senate redistricting maps drawn by the Republican-led Legislature.
More briefs are expected to roll in from the Legislature, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and the League of Women Voters and other voter rights’ groups by today’s deadline. Justices have set Feb. 29 for arguments in the case.
Democrats in their 58-page filing argued that justices should be able to toss the maps out fairly easily.
“The Legislature cannot credibly contest that the Senate and House Plans were drawn with the intent and result of favoring the Republican Party,†they wrote. “Incontrovertible statistics demonstrate a significant partisan imbalance in both plans that simply cannot be justified on the basis of voter registration or election data, racial fairness, or any other legitimate rationale.â€

Jacksonville City Councilman Richard Clark -- aren't waiting to jump into the race for Congressional District 6.
Clark told Channel 4 on Monday that he never would have run against Mica, but since there is now an open seat for Congress in northeast Florida, he's received a lot of support to enter the race.
Clark, a Republican, joins Jacksonville-based attorney and former federal prosecutor Ron DeSantis, as well has Craig Miller, the former Ruth’s Chris CEO who abandoned his U.S. Senate bid to run in the district.

Miller said he is moving to his beach house in Ormond Beach, and Clark says he would move from Jacksonville to St. Johns County if he is elected. DeSantis lives in Ponte Vedra Beach.
