Title: Legislation that impacts Jacksonville - Take a moment to respond.
Post by: Spar Council 1869 on February 09, 2012, 08:05:28 AM
Our unique and finite historic neighborhoods in Jacksonville greatly benefit from these federal initiatives:

Transportation Enhancements (TE), the single largest source of federal funding for historic preservation, is under siege. With your help, Preservation stakeholders successfully fought off crippling amendments in the Senate last fall. But as the Senate considers transportation re-authorization proposals beginning this week, the TE program could be in peril. Ask our Senators, Rubio & Nelson, to support full funding and functionality of the Transportation Enhancements program!

Earlier this week, Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) came together to introduce historic tax credit legislation that will strengthen America's Main Streets, promote energy-efficiency in rehabilitation projects, and make the credit more accessible to nonprofit organizations. Please join us in supporting this important effort.
