Title: Bold City rated one of top 50 breweries to visit
Post by: Lucasjj on January 30, 2012, 03:14:42 PM
Nice recognition for Bold City.

QuoteJacksonville's Bold City Brewery was rated one of the top 50 breweries to visit in the RateBeer Best 2012 awards.

Not too shabby when you consider that list includes breweries all over the world, such as the Cantillon Brewery in Brussels.

The list is based on ratings by RateBeer.com members. Bold City was Jacksonville's first commercial microbrewery, opening on Rosselle Street in Riverside in 2008. It since has been joined by Intuition Ale Works, just around the corner on King Street, and Green Room Brewing in Jacksonville Beach.

No Jacksonville-brewed beer made RateBeer's list of the top 50 beers in the world, but Tampa-based Cigar City Brewing took four spots on that list.

Nice! Bold City certainly has made a great brewery to visit and hang out in. Way to represent the 'ville.

Congrats to Bold City.

I think the Jax brewing scene might be on to something!

It would be great if we became the Asheville or Portland of Florida.  Just need to convince the city that we are a serious industry and that they should support us.

ANYTIME I go to a restaurant or bar I ask for Intuition or Bold City...  I am surprised at the number of establishments who do not carry one or both.  I try and make a big deal to management that these beers need to be on the menu... the indifference is amazing...

Rumor is, BT that Mojos #4 will be converting their taps to ALL local brews.  That would be really nice!

It would... I can understand places that serve only Bud and or Miller lite crap.  Their clients would not really want a Peoples Pale or Killer whale.  There are alot of "upscale" restaurants and bars serving specialty or high end micro brews that are not serving the local brews... and that is a shame.

I recently enjoyed some excellent brews in the taproom of Nantahala Brewing Co. in Bryson City, NC.  Those guys were familiar with our local breweries.  I guess it's kind of a national club like the Masons. ;)

Ben - +1000. Even folks who don't drink (or don't drink craft beer) should be informed that this is a growth industry full of valuable small business potential.

BT - I do that too. Though I'm finding that at least among the types of places I go, it's is becoming less and less of an issue.

Once we can get Green Room and Mile Marker in more venues and Aardwolf gets into action, the local brewing scene will really take off.

I'm working on it!

Spreading the Gospel of good beer is something I try to do on a regular basis through my blog and club. As things heat up in the area, I can only see more good things happening. Jacksonville -- or the area -- has a great number of breweries and brew pubs and the number is growing. I'd say we have the beginnings of a beer destination city. We just have to keep the momentum going and support our local breweries.

This is exciting news! Yet another component that can make the whole city in general take off! I've had several of their beers, all were great! Never been to the brewery itsself though.
