It was Forever Changed (rip), O Theos Divine (rip), The Myriad (rip?) and Bernard (now sunbears) that you saw in Tallahassee. I didn't think I would like the new stuff, but so far digging the album.

Thanks @Tacachale. @Wardfromtallahassee behold the transformative power of good tunes! Also I'm pretty sure Jeremy Griffith recorded this which adds even more coolness factor!

FYI I got confirmation that Jeremy Griffith did in fact engineer/co-produce this record and he also engineered on Economy by John Mark McMillan. And Jeremy is no stranger to the Jax/St Aug scene...

I just learned about sunbears recently. I'm still not sure how I feel about them...not entirely my type of music but almost my type of music. Your review adds some insight into my subtle confusion about this band. Why do I feel so perlexed when I listen to them! ? It might be your initial expressed sentiments about Sunbears that I feel...almost there but not quite. The music has all of the elements of sounds I like but something is missing. or, it might the beatles sounding sounds that seem to crop out of nowhere in some (rather most) of their songs that I find off putting.

I have over the years discovered that my mind works in such a way that if something is erroneously described it tends to not compute for me because it's out of context. I mean it's the audio equivalent of going to take a sip of your tea and grabbing your buddy's sprite by accident---your mind goes all wonky for a minute. As accessible as the Sunbears! are they still retain those elements that I tend to more easily gravitate towards which are those elements that challenge the listener. Thanks for your input. Let me know if you ever put a finger on it or if after some more listens you fall in love with it too! Those are always the best records--the ones you have to fight with to learn to love.
