Title: Looking for a good tailor/alterations place
Post by: CMYKyle on January 19, 2012, 02:45:33 PM
Anyone know a good tailor or alterations place in Jacksonville? I would prefer a place either near Riverside or in Southside.

Thanks!

I've used Basel's in 5 points for a suit. I found him to be very good and very quick (but he's not cheap.) Depending on what you need there are a number of decent alterations places around town.

There is nobody in Jacksonville as good as Basil.  He can do any alteration or build you a custom suit from the cloth up.  Half the businessmen and lawyers in Jacksonville are his clients.

For the work he does, he is not expensive at all. If you are having alterations done to a $3000 Ziegna, you want it done right.

Basel is great, a real old-school professional tailor.  I've taken a number of things to him over the years and always been happy with the results.

Dorothy and Ewa on San Juan (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?rlz=1C1DVCJ_enUS392US392&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=dorothy+and+ewa&fb=1&gl=us&hq=dorothy+and+ewa&hnear=0x88e5b716f1ceafeb:0xc4cd7d3896fcc7e2,Jacksonville,+FL&cid=9963653261059841141)

For alterations they are great and affordable, have been in the area forever.  Not sure if they are tailors.

It might be a little far for you but I use "Ortega Alterations" just north of Timuquana off Roosevelt Blvd. They have great prices and same day turn-around. I use them for all my alterations and military uniforms as there service is great and quick. Here's there address:

5435 Roosevelt Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32210-8423
