Just got an invite on fbook for their Ivy is Closing Bash, Saturday 1/21.
Lee and his team pushed hard for a long time and threw some pretty epic parties.
Wish them well.
This is really too bad... :(
this is (not at all) shocking
The Ivy wasn't really my type of bar/club but I had a few drinks there on occasion. Sad to see it go, hopefully another bar will takes it's place.
He had been shopping everything for some time now, and wanted a very large sum of money for his operations.
shhhoootttt...lemme lease that liquor license :)
They certainly turned some People off at the MJ pub crawl. I too wish them well.
Ivy was fun for a while. Then they decided to put pool tables in the middle of the dance floor.

There are certainly many options to do so downtown... and for WAYYY cheaper than what he was trying to sell it for.
Bars come...bars go.... Lakelander reported 3 more opening up soon dt. Best wished for those at the Ivy.

Hahaha trying to grow the empire further Ian?? Mike, are you plotting something?? You're extra knowledgeable these days. If you're plotting something, I want in.
ALL I do is WORK!!!!
Indeed this is a sad day for Downtown small business in general and especially for the Ivy staff. I do indeed wish them well and hope that everyone lands quickly back on their feet. They did not suffer from lack of effort.
Lee & company fought the good fight and even though we were competitors we had a similar hope for Downtown nightlife to prosper.
I won't go into any details on this Forum but I will say Lee was fearless in dealing with the city in areas that needed (and still need) policy/mindset changes. I admire him and thank him for that.
Many independent bars and restaurants in Jacksonville are at a delicate stage financially speaking. They are in need of continued public support or they may not survive. So, please remember this when you are deciding where to eat and drink. Spread the wealth, so to speak. That will help insure a rich and vibrant (dare say, eclectic) nightlife with many choices rather than just a few.
A toast to the Ivy: 'Cheers and thank you for your effort in bringing nightlife to Downtown'!
Very well put Mark. Respect. Cheers to The Ivy!
Shop local, eat local, drink local. Shun the chains!
Anyone go the the 'Closing Party' last night? I wonder how the turn out was.
