Come on over for wine and cheese.
Take a tour of our home that began years ago as a true labor of love by the previous owner (we'll show you evidence) and see what potential rests in our duplex on Walnut Court. You'll be able to see first hand what mothballing a home entails and looks like.
Yup. It's an open house party at Walnut Court. You read that right. Come on over, enjoy the tour with a glass of wine, and we'll show you why this place matters.

Thank you Jeff, for fighting to save this house -- you fought for it, and loved it, to give it away. And in doing so, it became the first house to be mothballed in Jacksonville.

We have primed the house and painted 2 sides, half of the trim and accent are complete. ALL windows are mothball boarded, and most wood repairs complete. We put in 4 full days of work last week.
The duplex has a great layout with all original features on hand for restoration. Did I mention the previous owner LABELED trim pieces he removed from the house? The floors are in solid condition on both floors and each unit boasts 2 bedrooms and 1 bath.
Come to our open house to see our historic home, to learn what mothballing really is (you'll get to see it,) and enjoy wine and cheese with friends and neighbors. See you Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.!
Reminder about Sunday from 3-4:30 at 423 Walnut Court.
This piece really says it all:

Great afternoon, perfect weather, tons of people, Nicole gave great tours...a wonderful way to spend a weekend. Two restoration events bookended together....the dream and the dream completed.
This is what Springfield is about...the houses and the people who chose to live in them, sweat over them, and love them.
Thank you to the many Springfield friends and neighbors who came out to see our home and learn (and see!)about mothballing.
Mothballing: an intervention to save our houses and give a homeowner a fair timeline to renovate without harassment.
We are working out the details for the next stages of the home, 1. We have to complete the requirements for our Mothball COA (we are about 90% there,) 2. We then request the final inspection/walk-through through HPC to finalize the COA, 3. We await patiently (95% positive) the wiping out of the half-million in city fines via our lawsuit against the city, 4. With clean title, we will hold an auction during the summer and place the house in the hands of an able owner who will renovate our duplex.
Details about the auction will be shared in the spring. If you know of anyone who needs information, help, and/or support with their home please contact us. We simply wish to "Save the Houses" and are here to help.
Springfield is a great, great community and I am grateful to be a part of it. Love to everyone.
Great event! Saw people there who rarely attend other Springfield events so your message really got out there! Heard nothing but positive remarks. It feels as though a corner has been turned in the efforts to preserve our neighborhood. Hats off to you guys for leading the charge!
@ springfield chicken...you've spent your fair share of hours planted on chairs in council chambers or writing emails. Thank you for your efforts as well.
Thanks Micha!
