The thread title scared me a little.
Oh yeah! I hope they follow through in Avondale too.
Hmm, so it's presumably going to be drive up location between State and Union. That's too bad.
This sounds awful compared to the original Bahri design. I hope the city vetoes their design changes.
Not sure how this new design is going to look. According to the article alot of the originally proposed enhancements are not going to be included in the new concept.
If I had to guess, I'd say that they decided they wanted a set back car-ready convenience store, and moved it to where they could put one.
This is how we roll in Duval
remember that the original gas station proposed for the site had the same idea....it was only after working with DDRB that their design changed...so, as they say, keep hope alive!
I made a request for an electronic version of Thursday's DDRB agenda. When the email comes in, I'll post sketches of the proposed design.
What a fantastic location. ::)
Another location Downtown coming. From the DailyRecord.
We reported Friday that the design for a freestanding 7-Eleven store at 9 N. Main St. was approved, but that won’t be the only place Downtown to buy a Slurpee or a Big Gulp. The international convenience store chain has leased space in the concourse of the BB&T Building at 200 W. Forsyth St. for a pedestrian-friendly, urban-design unit.
Let's hope they at least make it visible with some signage!

That is very cool.
So it will be underground?
interesting question....there is an underground concourse there connecting the parking garage....and it does/did have retail space
i hope not. Isn't there empty retail space in the lobby of the BB&T tower?
Is there a timeframe for these builds?
it seems to me the one in the BB&T tower will happen first. Not sure of the exact dates.
I park in the BB&T garage. The concourse level is the tunnels connecting the garage with BB&T and 121 Forsyth. There are a few restaurants down there. There's empty retail spots as well.
The concourse level is exposed to the street near Bay on Hogan.
According to DVI, 7-Eleven will be on the first floor (street level) of the garage at Forsyth & Julia Streets. Nice location, imo.
Do you know the status on the 7-11 in Avondale?
It's dead. Neighborhood didn't want it and they moved on.
Interesting. The last I heard was that there was some opposition in the neighborhood but I didn't know it was that strong.
I would have liked a 7-11. Bummer.
Well, it wasn't the best possible thing that could go there, but seriously, do the residents prefer an empty building?
I wouldn't complain if they brought one to San Marco! I guess Avondale is just too good Slurpees and new buildings ::)
I think this is going in an empty spot at the concourse's entrance at Hogan and Bay. If it isn't 7-Eleven it's definitely something going in there. There was busy interior construction buildout taking place about 15 minutes ago.
Yay! No more driving to Old Dixie Highway to get a Slurpee! Finally...
