usually these are used for maintenance, not operations or additional service

Lets see how much they use to fix these piss poor skyway stations. Maybe this is why they stated things would be fixed by December. They were probably banking on getting this grant

It may be for upgrading their fare collection system.  Earlier this week they were promoting a new STAR system that consists of a card that you tap on a box (or something) that deducts your fare.

Many transit agencies have gone (or are going) this route

I was under the impression the funds for STAR came from a different grant.

STAR is funded through one of the stimulus packages.

Does STAR really stand for Simply  Tap and Ride? Lol. Why does that bring images to my head that are not related to Skyway fare collection systems?
