Thank you for being here. I'm not sure what I'm going to do without you! When I have a question, need a strange part, need something in a hurry, you've been there helping me for 12 years, first on 8th and then on Main.

I'll miss you.
QuoteAccording to the Small Business Administration, there were nearly 28 million small businesses in the United States last year. Statistics reveal that for every $100 spent in locally-owned, independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. Just another reason to shop locally!
I'm grateful that Olde Time Hardware is still hanging in there.
Need something? Shop local before ALL indies are gone.
The old Fuel building, originally built as a Woolworth's, is just crying out for someone to put a hardware store there. Riverside is crying out for one. Towers Hardware, which was in the Fans & Stoves store location didn't survive the decline of Riverside, but now that the area is revived, we desperately need one that fills the needs of our old houses.
The work that that place needs plus the rent put it out of the grasp of anyone but a commercial retailer.

Totally agree.

From what I understand, the owner of the Fuel space is just waiting for the "right" offer (read, too high for anyone in this economy).

I don't know what she is asking, but from conversations with her, this is not my impression. Her grandparents built the building to rent to Woolworth's. It has been vacant and costing money for a long time now.

You very well could be right. Interestingly, my information comes from the owner of Tommy's Brick Oven Pizza over in the Southside. Apparently he tried to rent the place a few years back, and that was his impression (also what he told me a few nights ago).
