MAYOR BROWN ANNOUNCES FIVE APPOINTMENTS
One comes as an executive on loan, costing taxpayers just $1 annually
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Nov. 10, 2011 â€" Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown announced five appointments, including the director of the new office of public-private partnership.
Calvin Burney will serve as the Director of Planning. His most recent position as President and CEO of Transportation Planning Group Inc. has had him overseeing traffic and civic visioning projects throughout Jacksonville for the past decade. His experience stretches back more than three decades when he was hired as a project review chief for the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council. The position pays $120,000 annually.
James Cole Cartledge will serve as the Director of Intergovernmental affairs. He has wide-ranging experience in the private sector and in the military. Most recently, he served as an Executive Officer and Senior Legal Advisor in the U.S. Army. The position pays $122,500 annually.
Renee Finley will head the Mayor’s Office of Public-Private Partnerships. She will not take a city salary but rather be paid $1 annually as an executive-on-loan from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, where she has been the vice president for Corporate and Market Strategy. In 2008, she was recognized as the United Way’s Campaign Chair of the Year for her leadership role in Northeast Florida.
Betzy Santiago, a Real Estate professional who has been president of the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will be a special assistant to Mayor Brown. In the position, she will assist with outreach to help citizens throughout the community. The position pays $70,000 annually.
Jack Shad will serve as a community planner. He has had a career in Real Estate, planning and zoning with related experience working with historic structures. He has done projects for the city and Riverside Avondale Preservation association. His position will carry a focus of downtown development. The position pays $75,000 annually.
“In order to take Jacksonville to the next level, we must continue to work with the best and brightest minds,†said Mayor Brown. “These appointments will help our administration work more effectively and efficiently to serve the people of our city.â€

Disappointed why? If found in this life we will NEVER have everything exactly how we want. Thats just the way it is. Just gotta take thing for what its worth and move foward.
