I dont know if its a golf course or not but it looks like one from Google Maps. Its directly south of the current San Pablo Creek Club and at the South end of the Deep Forest Airfield, across the creek. There is also about 5 big homes in the middle of the woods near-by. It looks like the access road to it is gated (South San Pablo Rd.) and the only way to it looks like a dirt road snaking North, from Phillips Hwy and Racetrack Rd. The road isnt shown on Google Map but you can see it on Google Satellite...
Then again after looking there is more smaller open areas south of the pond maybe a 36 hole course.
I've noticed that on aerials before as well. I don't think there was ever a golf course there though. I looked on older photos and couldn't determine what those clearings are from.
This is the Davis family property. The "Dee Dot Ranch".
Is there a landing strip on the property?
Indeed, It's listed by the FAA as FD48 Deep Forest Airport
A little bit of digging on the internet produced this: "[T]he large house on the eastern tip you speak of, and the two lots above it, all belong to Robert D. Davis. He is the son of Artemus Davis, whom is the son of William Davis, the founder of the stores that we know of today as Winn-Dixie. As for the gold course, it is simply a private course called Pablo Creek Golf Club. More information on that here: http://jacksonville.golfnation.org/course167/pablo-creek-club The runway is owned by George Hodges "
