Title: FL/GA game
Post by: dougskiles on October 29, 2011, 09:00:02 PM
Just got home from the game.  I wasn't happy with the result, but the experience was great.  This is, IMO, the most exciting weekend in Jacksonville.  Everywhere I went there was a buzz.  I wish we could find a way to host more events like this.

And, taking the bus from Kings Ave is a great way to go.  We never give JTA much love on this forum, but they deserve credit for how they handle game day.  Well done.

Just imagine if the skyway went to the stadium.

Anyway I thought it was a good game. You have to let the mutts win every now and then b/c it wouldn't be a rivalry.

Had a great time. Sat in 220. Had a few dawg fans around me. We all enjoyed ourselves. Saw one dawg fan get arrested in the next section over. That was about the only issue I saw. In the meantime I have a new Gator jersey to burn. Wore it to the AL and GA game which we all know didnt turn out to well. Might wear it to Vandy this weekend but dont wanna jinx us. lol.

It was a good game. It's better for the series, and everyone who isn't an ultrafan of either team, when it's actually competitive, rather than one team (1990-2010) or the other (1968-1989) utterly dominating. This is definitely one of the defining nights of Jacksonville's year.

umm...while Florida has dominated the series since 1990, the previous few games have been close.

^Well, the previous 1 game before this was close, the 2 before that, no. It is true though that Georgia has been more competitive in the post-Spurrier than they get credit for.

I drove down around 11:00, and utilized the Shipyards property to park (only $20!!).  We were some of the last vehicles on the property (parked pretty much right next to the Berkman 2), and our end was extremely muddy.  It only got worse as we walked toward the stadium.  Hopefully it didn't mess all the new sod up too much!

Anyways we tailgate-hopped, and ended up in RV City to watch the game.  Ate at the Landing while the traffic died down, then left.  Best weekend in Jacksonville, by far.  Great job all around!  And major props to the people that have to CLEAN EVERYTHING UP!!

ok..true...here's the data for the last 10 games

2002 - Florida 20 Georgia 13
2003 - Florida 16 Georgia 13
2004 - Florida 24 Georgia 31
2005 - Florida 14 Georgia 10
2006 - Florida 21 Georgia 14
2007 - Florida 30 Georgia 42
2008 - Florida 49 Georgia 10
2009 - Florida 41 Georgia 17
2010 - Florida 34 Georgia 31 (OT)
2011 - Florida 20 Georgia 24

Average margin of victory is 11 points...and take out the 2008/2009 blowouts and the average margin is less than 6 points
