Title: Sustainable Springfield helps garden for guys...
Post by: sheclown on October 26, 2011, 10:28:07 PM
Thank you to Sustainable Springfield for the load of manure dumped today at the backyard garden of Home Away From Home.

One of the guys, Charlie, has been busy planting his crop this season and is sharing his harvest with the men.  Last night it was a pot of green beans that he fixed "just right".

Now, with the help of Sustainable Springfield, Charlie's garden will grow in size.  He hopes to plant some greens for the guys.  "Fresh vegetables are just too expensive" he tells me and then he grins.  "The guys really eat it up when I cook for them."

Again, thanks! Gardening, as we all know, is good for the body and the soul.

Nothing nourishes the soul like growing your own food and sharing it with others :)

Are they interested in urban fish farming?

We are looking into it.

The plants which grow on the surface to clean the pond, what are they?  I like the floating bucket lid!!

Could you do it in an old bathtub?  Would you have to have a drain if you used plant material to clean it?  And a pump?

Our little goldfish (bought years ago for 1.00 ) are still alive in the front yard.  We just might be able to do this.

What sort of fish works best?  How long does it take?

Sigma,
Would you like to kayak Hogans Creek? I'd like to talk with you about the Urban Fish Farms. I'll treat you to Robert's. Ultimately legislation is the key and that is truly landing a big fish.
