That block w/ Burro Bar, Poppy Love Smoke, Chomp Chomp, and that clothing store is really taking shape...
Can anyone tell me what kind of bar Burro is? What kind of vibes, people, music? Ditto for Poppy Love Smoke. I'd love an excuse to get drunk and walk to Chomp Chomp sometime this weekend.
And I believe Burro Bar wants outdoor seating. Once they get that, they is gonna make that little strip even more live.
Burro seemed kind of hipsterish, at least the crowd looked like it was leaning that way when we went in there the other day. There were a lot of other random groups in there also.

So, a fun place for all crowds?
yes, definitely friendly to all - I'm old enough to be the mother of a hipster and I've had some great conversations sitting at the bar in Burro.
Burro is absolutely great! Friendly to all - lots of great beer to choose from
All three places are really cool. Burro Bar is a classic downtown dive, beer bar, and music venue. The music tends to be indie, the good kind of DJs, and punk-hardcore-metal. It draws a strong hipster and music geek contingent, but they're hardly the only frequenters, and the staff are super friendly. They've got some good beer on tap and in the bottle. Definitely a fun place for all crowds.
Poppy Love Smoke is an upscale urban cigar and wine bar. It draws a mainly African American crowd, but it's not exclusive, and is possibly the last place downtown for a stogie. They also do live music, including some pretty great jazz acts.
Chomp Chomp is just plain phenomenal. Fantastic food and vibe. Go there tonight.
