Does anyone besides me miss Pizza Inn?? I can remember vividly eating at the one on Norwood after a field trip feeling like a fat pig. There was also one on Lenox/Normandy. Does anyone remember the other locations? Were they just a local chain?
Very much remember the one across from the old Great American Music Store in what used to be the Normandy Mall complex. They had one of those table-top Pac-Man video game machines. You could eat pizza and play Pac-Man at the same time. They weren't very good quality-wise however. Uncle Charlies was always our choice if we wanted good pizza.
I'm about 90% sure there was a location in Arlington as well.

Same chain you guys are talking about?
There used to be one at Blanding and 103rd in front of what used to be Albertson's. Closed around 1990 I think.

It was always great to get greasy hands on that Pacman machine. The sit down machines were the best.
I have the vaguest memory of this place and yes, it was the pac-man games that stood out to me the most . I remember scarfing down pizza while chasing ghost, great childhood memory! We need a joint like that back in Jacksonville that isn't Adventure Landing or Dave & Busters, a place that serves booze and lets you play vintage arcade and pinball games. Something like Shorty's in Seattle: http://www.shortydog.com/ (but i'd prefer pizza)
Pizza Inn 2.0 anyone?

I remember that. It was the year my family moved here. There used to be a Dairy Queen across the street too and a Pic N' Save on the other corner.
I also remember a place called Mr Gatti's that was similar. Maybe on Lane Avenue.
Also, I just talked to a co-worker in Dallas, which is where their HQ is. It sounds like they're mostly delivery now, So there's very few dine in restaurants left with the arcade games. :(

There was a Mr. Gatti's in Neptune Beach. They also had huge projector screens where they'd play cartoons, and news and sports in the adults section. Many a fond memory of blowing quarters on Alleyway and Ms. Pacman.

Loved Mr. Gatti's! (beaches kid here) Of course when I was there, Saturday Night was a circuit for all the beaches kids between Gatti's and Hobby Oasis.
10 dollars in tokens and five bucks for pizza and you were set for the entire evening.
It was a sad day when that Hobby Oasis moved. Where else could you check out a ludicrously detailed model train city while playing some Elevator Action?
Nobody answered cgaskins question about that being a chain restuarant or not. Were the logo and sign the same? Local coincidence?
Pizza Inn (from the link) looks just like a Pizza Hut copy, from the red logo to the table Pac-Man game.

Ah yes good ole Pic N Save. That is an entire different thread. Bump Wal-mart, Pic N Save was the bomb. If there were still around, they would be given Wal Mart a run for their money. I grew up off of Main street so I have fond memories of the one that was at 48th & Main.
I remember the Pizza Inn at the corner of Kori Rd and San Jose Blvd across Kori from what used to be the American National Bank (remember that?) in Mandarin. I spent a lot of time (and money) at the Pic N Save at Baymeadows Rd and Old Kings Rd next to Winn Dixie. Those were good times.

That was the dynamic duo. Pic N Save was almost always next door to Winn Dixe. 48th and Main was the same way.

You know you've lived in Jax awhile when you give directions that end with 'right down past where the Pic N Save used to be'

I know right! We were a relatively small city in the early 90's, but this was really a fun place to stay. The Jags were brand new and taking the NFL by storm.... The 90's were our best years IMO (recently). Its seems like after the early 2000 the whole mood of the city started to change for some reason....
Goony Golf on Beach..... Razed .. Gone... Now a strip mall with the Old dinosaur in front. EVERY Drive-in in town. GONE.. Replaced with a WALMART, or some other store. Putt-Putt .. Gone. Department Stores downtown ... Gone.
The mood was changing back in the 1970s when everything that was ever interesting and beautiful ( well, pretty much ) downtown, was closed and Razed. All the Grande Hotels GONE .. this insane pattern continued along with urban sprawl to kill our downtown.
The mentality is all wrong. And the powers that be , still do not get it ...... :(

Hopefully Brown's efforft pays off. If we can get 8 years of progressive leadership this city will turn around. However, that city council is a mess...... Not all of them, but lord they are still a trip

You said it , my brother. Like you , I do hope the Brown Admin will at least begin a turn for the positive for Jacksonville.
Mr. Gatti's on Normandy was the place for Friday nights after Ed White games in 1985. I remember watching Miami Vice on the big projection screen and eating some form of pizza-like foodstuff. It didn't take too much to please us back then. If you wanted really good pizza back then, you went to Arty's Pizza on San Juan.
Ooooh the memories....
Mr. Gatti's, Godfathers Pizza, Pic-N-Save, Putt Putt golf.....
Does anyone remember the waterslide place on beach blvd. called Slippery Dip????
Good Times....
Sorry to kinda go off course, but in speaking of the Pizza Inn that was on Norwood, across the street on Norwood & 44th where the old Hollywood Video used to be, a new Mc Donalds is being built; That is a great addition for the area. Does anyone know when it will open?

It all started going downhill on July 1, 2003. Things started looking even worse around March 2011, but fortunately the forecast improved and there are some signs of recovery as of July 1, 2011. Still, we have a long way to go just to get back to our previous level of momentum, let alone get to where we want to be, but in the meantime Sexy Rexy, the beloved Beach Boulevard dinosaur, stands as a shining light in the heathen darkness.
