Anyone know if there's an authentic Filipino restaurant in Jax? The 2 girls who run the Filipino stand at RAM are great--but I need a real restaurant open on days besides Saturday 10-4!
They are from Pearl of the Orient on Kingsley Avenue. You can go there Monday - Fridays for your lunch or dinner.
They have been there for at least 30 years across from the Orange park hospital, next to Sonny's BBQ.

Thanks
If anyone else has some Filipino recommends, please, let me know (or any other ethnic restaurants for that matter!).
Mike Cell Oriental Grocery on the corner of Atlantic and St. John's Bluff has a little diner in the back and it's really good. Awesome lechon kawali, they make different dishes every day and the prices are good. There was a filipino place inside the Regency mall but I haven't been in there so I don't know if it's still open. There was also an actual sit-down type place on Beach just past Southside, in the minimall with the orange dinosaur but I think it closed.
I'm not in Orange Park very often but I will certainly check out Pearl of the Orient.
I've heard very good things about Simply Tasty Thai out at Mayport. Don't let the name fool you, they serve lots of filipino dishes as well and the prices for their thai food are the best in the city. Same thing with Orange Park, I just don't go out that far very often anymore.
I believe there's a place on Atlantic just west of 9A. I haven't eaten there in almost a decade but I think I've seen it still there.
And I heard recently that the place in the Regency Mall is still there.
The place near Atlantic & St. Johns Bluff is very good and has a small buffet at lunch. I've also stopped at Pancitan (I think that is the correct name) near Peach Dr on Beach (just east of Southside in the T-Rex plaza). Only stopped there once but the food and service were great. I wish one would open near Riverside/Avondale. Maybe one day a Filipino restaurant and an Indian restaurant in the 'hood. Hey, a man can dream right? God knows we've got enough sushi places to last us.
I believe the place floridaforester is talking about is Am Asian (968 Saint Johns Bluff Rd N) - across the street from Craig Field. Very good food, but you could easily miss the store - it's tiny. Pancitan on Beach is decent, but I believe they had some health code violations lately. My favorite right now is BBQ Sticks Restaurant (120 1/2 Lemon Street
Neptune Beach, FL 32266). It's just a small shack across the street from the Seahorse Inn, near the Lemon Bar. The food is awesome - BBQ sticks (obviously), pancit, and banana spring rolls. Masarap! (Delicious in Tagalog) :)
I've always been disappointed that there aren't more Filipino restaurants in Jax, considering how large and long-established the community is here. My aunt is from the Philippines and her cooking is UH-mazing. Folks don't know what they're being deprived of.
Am Asian and BBQ Sticks are good.
I also like the Island Cafe in the Regency Square Mall.
The problem with filipino food is that everyone's auntie cooks it in such large quantities in the almost endless family get-togethers every weekend that there really isn't a burgeoning market to sell pancit to the masses. Find where the nearest pusoy or tong game is, and you're sure to find a dining room table full of everything from lumpia to balut served buffet-style to gorge yourself on. Believe me, I do.
There is a smaller filipino place off of Argyle that has some good lumpia and pancit.
Its at the little shopping strip at Argyle and Youngerman Circle.
