I am a newbie and I would like a little history on what Metro Jacksonville has done to promote it's plan and website. Mostly I want to figure out how I can be the most help.
First of all, welcome to the forum. Have you read through the various threads on the issue? That would probably be your best to start off with, until someone can better respond to your questions. There's a great deal of information and ideas throughout the thread that I'm sure will help answer what you're wanting to find out. Metrojacksonville has some wonderful people working on this issue, and no doubt one of them will gladly help you out.
We haven't really done anything to promote the website besides fill it with a lot of content. It's just been word of mouth and mentions in the newspaper.
In order to promote our ideas we attend various super boring meetings that the city and JTA hold. We meet with city leaders and the city council to try and explain why our ideas are better than what they intend to do. They usually just end up doing nothing at all or the opposite of what they should. Then we take pictures of it, they look silly for a little while, and the cycle starts over again.
What we are short on is time. We all have full time "real" jobs and can't be on top of every issue.
You guys do have a lot of content. I have about seven hours logged in and I have only read a fraction of what you have.
REAL JOBS? Oh damn! I don't do anything at all... Daddy sends me a check!
