So a helicopter has been shining a searchlight for the past 20 minutes or so down on five points. There's two very upset girls talking to police in front of Starbucks. And now there's a bunch of police here. Anyone know what's going on?

On Monday morning after 10:30 you can go on Crimewatch on the JSO web site and see if there was a report written about that incidnet. They don't update it over the weekend.
Where is the crime watch link? I can't seem to find it on the coj website.

Good luck getting any info..in past years we had a near riot on July 4th(due to a Three times over capacity booking of a Thug RAP show in 5-Points..and turn-away of the rest of the supposed PAID customers) With MANY witnesses of the SWAT TEAM and other characters in Para-Military Vests... that if you asked any officer "they had no idea because they were off duty!" and the 2AM morning in 2008 when I rode past Burger King on King Street ...Crime scene taped off with Two Helicopters circling..One actually put the spot light on me for 2 blocks down Forbes street...Sorry...My middle finger has an Automatic function.
How rude was a spot light hours after the crime happened. Grow up and get a clue!
in both cases NO news story the following day, and if you asked a JSO officer you got waffled with a non-answer.
It is JSO policy to not reveal any info to the public...because the perp might leave town! (or be watching channel 4 and laughing)
Please someone tell me this isn't a southern thing. Police should be pro-Active.....not quietly Re-active with secrets until the lawyers go through everything.
When incident reports are written, they go on Crimewatch unless they are held because of security reason, which is rare.
If something doesn't warrant a report, i.e. there is no evidence of a crime, then nothing goes up.
"911, there's a prowler in my backyard!" The helicopter goes up and four patrol cars are dispatched. Lots of commotion until the family of racoons is spotted in the tree in the backyard. There will be no report filed.
