I'm not sure what's going on with 1610 N. Main.  However, I'll see what I can dig up.

The Northpoint Town Center is on the corner of Moncrief and Myrtle.  It's an office/retail center being developed by the Northwest Jacksonville Community Development Corp.

QuoteThe building, called the North Point Town Center, is the centerpiece for an ambitious array of construction planned by the CDC, which is marking its 10th anniversary this year. Other plans are:

- The $6 million Mary Eaves Senior Living Center at Myrtle Avenue and 16th Street. The CDC is seeking to round up the final half million dollars in financing needed to start construction of the 50-unit center in early 2012.

- A $1.6 million renovation of apartment buildings over the coming year. The work will add central air conditioning and other amenities to 50 rental units, which will be renamed the Villages of North Point.

- More home construction. The CDC has built and sold 69 houses to first-time home buyers, and six more are under construction.

- A grocery store that would be built on Moncrief Road, across the street from the North Point Town Center building. The CDC has bought most of the land needed for a store site.

All the construction is concentrated in an area that falls that falls within a half-mile radius of the town center, said Paul Tutwiler, executive director of the CDC.

Quote
Childers also helped arrange discussions between the CDC and the Save A Lot supermarket chain about building a store on land across the street from the town center. The CDC owns most of the necessary property but still needs to purchase an existing home. Tutwiler said it would be an urban-style, 16,000- square-foot store.

"The community truly could use one," he said. "We know that a lot of the stores in this area only have cigarettes and beer. We need fresh fruits and vegetables for our growing babies."

The construction of the two-story building has generated buzz from other businesses along Myrtle Avenue and Moncrief Road. Tutwiler said a merchants association has dubbed the commercial corridor the District of Soul, promoting the "flavor of restaurants and entertainment" from the neighborhood's African-American heritage.

Lingerie store...sign on the door last Saturday pm says they had moved next to the "Green Alligator," apparently somewhere else along the same Avondale strip, but I do not know exactly. Two fellows were busy covering up the left side facing window when I passed by.

I think it's probably "Bonne Nuit" - good night in french.

What's going on with that attorney's office in San Marco?  Looks like they have all but torn down that building.  Anybody know what the final product is supposed to look like?  Can't be any worse than what they started with!

Maybe they should build another Kings Road Family Dollar in the middle of the USPS's parking lot.

What do they sell at the Wells Fargo store?  It just looks like any banking branch in the picture.

Pain and suffering, judging by the reviews and tales of Wells Fargo to be found all over the web.

But that said, I'm happy when they, or anyone for that matters, decides to set up shop downtown!

Wells is BY FAR one of the best nationwide banks out there.

If more banks behaved like they did... we wouldn't have had the collapse in banking a few years ago.

Watching John Strumpf get railroaded by the Senate a few years ago was a shameful moment in the history of the banking and finance subcommittee.

You can't see it from the outside, but virtually all of the hotels downtown have upgraded their facilities in the last 6 months.  Even the Hampton on the Southbank has had pretty extensive renovations done recently.

It wasn't by choice.  If you remember, a sore Colts fan turned on a fire main on the top floor last year and the building was entirely flooded from the top down.

We'll agree to disagree... in that survey they are seperating out Wells and Wachovia.

What's even more odd, is how low Wells ranks in that survey in regards to fees.  They actually have far less fees than Regions and BB&T which 'rank' better.

The Wells mortgage and insurance divisions always top the ASCI rankings.

It's all perspective.

Very happy Wells Fargo customer, myself.

Is it just me, or are the precast panels being hung on the baptist tower a complete horror show?  It looks like they are going back and applying a coating on them to attempt to lose the quilt-like appearance.
Hopefully baptist realizes they a getting a huge future maintanence bill to keep them looking nice.
