The Times Union and Urban Jacksonville just published articles announcing the re-launch of the 5 Points Theatre.

QuotePlans include a larger screen, improved sound and acoustics, theater seats with a bar running the length of each row, and full-on kitchen where food will be delivered to your seat.

QuoteIf he [Tim Massett] pulls it off, it would add a vital cultural spark to an eclectic collection of close-in neighborhoods that would welcome such a spruced-up amenity, Riverside Avondale Preservation founder Wayne Wood said.
Jacksonville, we need your help raising funds to do this. Tim has set up a project page to help raise the money on a crowdsourced funding site called Ulule: http://www.ulule.com/5pointstheatre
If you contribute to the project, you will be rewarded with various levels of prizes, depending on your contribution level. The most popular level is $100 and in exchange you receive twelve movie tickets and twelve popcorns. With the average cost of a movie ticket around $7.50 this contribution pays for itself.
Urban Jacksonville Matching ChallengeI believe this project can be transformative so I have committed to match up to $100 in contributions from Urban Jacksonville readers. Read about the Urban Jacksonville Matching Challenge (http://www.urbanjacksonville.info/2011/08/16/5-points-theatre-to-re-launch-with-new-ownership-and-funding-campaign#match)
Related: I just posted an article about innovative ways to fund your next project for One Spark (http://beonespark.com/features/view/crowdsource-your-next-project-put-the-fun-back-in-funding), a movement dedicated to highlighting and fostering innovation in Jacksonville
Who remembers Sud's and more? food delivered while you watch the movie...what a great idea and i'm suprised it went away...i'd pay premium for a movie with that kind of service...even better if it's good food.
Sounds like a good time.
Very cool. I will be donating.

Under the "better acoustics" part they need to put mufflers on the A/C system. It's really loud.
I have never been inside the theatre. (sad I know)
Yes, I remember this. Okay Stephen - you've convinced me. I'll kick in some cash and spread the word.
