To those who have seen or heard thoughts on both, which Nutcracker performance would you recommend? The Times-Union Center or the Florida Theatre?
Thanks.
Can't speak to the Florida Theater performance, however, one of my daughters danced with Ballet Oklahoma, in OKC and later in Orlando. I have seen my share of the Nutcracker's and grew to love it. I did see the Times-Union performance and it was outstanding, but very true to the original story line. No libertys were taken to break the mold. I am curious as to what the Florida Theater performance will do? Orlando did one where the conflict with the rats became more of a friendly game, in fact they removed the violent aspects and really pulled it off so that it ran smooth as silk. I wouldn't have thought I would like such a radical departure from the norm, but it was downright fantastic. That my daughter was the Spanish lady at the ball, didn't throw my enjoyment in the new twists to the old story.
Let me know, I really would like to see it myself.

Well since the Symphony Board locked out the musicians, I would recommend the other one ....the one in the Florida Theater.... if only to keep from funding the Symphony Board's lockout.
By the way, the symphony musicians have two free concerts coming up....December 15 at New Life Church on Kernan and on December 21 at UNF. They have a 501(c)3 and are accepting donations if you happen to need some tax deductions here at the end of the year.
Here's a link to the musicians' association webpage for more info:
