Title: Green building group seeks retail space in library garage
Post by: thelakelander on August 01, 2011, 06:12:28 AM
Quote"For lease - prime retail and multipurpose space," promise signs taped to storefront windows at the base of a downtown parking garage. But the store spaces facing Jacksonville's Main Library have been vacant - and never even finished inside - since the city-owned garage was built in 2005.

Now the city and a nonprofit that promotes sustainable building have drafted a tentative deal to change some of that. If the nonprofit can turn 4,940 square feet of bare concrete and sand floors into attractive, usable space, the group can use the space rent-free for five years.

At least if the City Council says OK.
