Title: Ship Yards
Post by: DA_MONSTER on July 15, 2011, 09:51:20 AM
Drove by the shipyards on my way to work and it looks like they are grading the ground for a new foundation or maybe just resurfacing the area.  They also planted a bunch of oak trees along Bay St.  Anyone know what is going on around the area?

Whoa, that's some unexpected news.  I haven't heard anything.

Were there any construction b-trailers on the property??

There's no project popping up on this site.  Probably just grading the area for surface parking and tailgating during the football season.

Is that their idea of an 'active use' park space??

Until it's mixed-use residential development or something equally valuable to the city (a 7-thousand seat amphitheater and public docks, ahem), I won't be pleased with anything they do with it.

They rebuilt the sidewalk and planted the trees a few months ago.  That equipment has been there for a few weeks.  They are just regrading the surface.... like Lake said, for football season.  I think next week there will be more of that road surface stuff brought in to form the lanes of the parking lot.  I forget what you call that stuff, it's the material that kind of looks like roof shingles mixed with pieces of asphalt.

I pointed it out when we kayaked the site last Saturday.
