Yeah, the labs were making octane booster.  The end product is supposedly pretty stable, however, the process to make it is very dangerous.  Supposedly, there was a problem during the manufacturing process that set off a chain reaction and kaplowee!

Check out this thread for a vid of a neighboring buisness...

An update on the investigation....

QuoteOSHA cites lab in fatal explosion

It wasn't determined if violations caused T2 blast

By Dana Treen, The Times-Union

The owners of a Jacksonville laboratory at which four people died in a December explosion have been cited with five serious violations of federal safety standards, according to a report issued Wednesday.

The violations at T2 Laboratories include not providing a blast resistant control room or a backup water supply to cool a high pressure reactor as well as a lack of evacuation and other emergency response plans.

The finding by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration did not determine if the violations caused the explosion. The company has 15 days to respond to the report. It can contest the findings or agree to pay $12,650 in fines.

"We just focus on the violations," OSHA spokesman Mike Wald said.
