I'm actually quite excited for that TCBY. I'm really surprised there aren't more (if any) in Jacksonville. Have been missing the White Chocolate Mousse since leaving Tallahassee.

We will most likely move to the beach if we can ever sell our house in sprawlville (Oakleaf).  This is a good look at what is going on.

Not to be nitpicky.... but you missed a ton of new things.  And a lot of the places highlighted have been opened for quite some time.  Also, Green Room has been open for about a month now.

Yes.  It was a Wachovia drive up ATM back in the day.  I think that before that it might have been a Rally's.  Could be wrong about that though.

Green Room is looking great. An awesome addition to the local beer scene.

Yes, it has been open for a month, but their storefront sign has just gone up in the last couple weeks and they are just starting to generate traffic in that short time too. It was more so to show the inside of the place for those who are not beachside to stop right by.

When I was there, Green Room also had Swamp Head Brewery beers on tap.  Swamp Head is based in Gainesville and really good.  I'm glad the Florida beer scene is picking up.  Better late than never I guess.

Wow. A fifth third bank is actually being built? Im seeing coming soon signs everywhere and nothing has been built. Ive seen some of the signs for years now. They just put one up next to the Auto Zone on SS blvd. I wonder how long they will take before they start building something. LOL

A 'First Watch' is coming to the South Beach Plaza off A1A/Marsh Landing Parkway. It will go into the Blockbuster store that closed next to 'Yobe' (formerly yogaberry but same company). It's a breakfast/lunch chain. I've been to several and they are slammed - I think the places in the vicinity (marsh landing country club, tpc, hotels, etc.) will generate a ton of traffic. However, I won't be able to get the picture of a 'blockbuster' store out of my head - and the parking lot directly in front of the strip is small - and the surrounding lot is usually filled by Target shoppers.

It's not bad, they have a new taproom open down there and it was slammed when we went a few weeks ago.  My wife really liked their belgian white (I wasn't a fan).  I'm sure they will all get better as it grows also.  I am still a Bold City fan though out of all the craft brews in N. Fl.

Hmmm I feel a beer tasting coming on.  I prefer both Swamp Head and Intuition to BC.  Cigar City is superior to possibly all.  I have a great affinity to both the Davis' and The Miller's, but i have to go with what my palette tells me.

Just off the top of my head, leases have been signed for Smash Burger, First Watch and M Shack.  There is a new blues bar along First Street.  There have been about 5 large construction bids won in the last 2 weeks on various commercial projects at the beach.  There is residential construction in South Beach.  And probably most importantly is the old strip center that once housed the tax collector's office has a construction bid out for a facade redesign and is now being actively marketed.

Just a suggestion, you may want to start checking the biz jounral every Friday as they list out all of the construction bids/leads.  It's a real easy tool to keep track of new commercial activity for articles like this in the future.

Cool, will do, thanks. Try to only focus on places that are physically under construction but this is certainly helpful to know. The blues bar was in last month's update. Do you know where 'M Shack' will be? Looks like Smashburger will be in the Publix Plaza off Atlantic.

M Shack is actually under construction now.  It will be in the AB/NB Town Center... where the book store moved from about a year ago.  The strip mall by Casa Marina does have activity going on now as well.

Glad to hear about the First Watch opening in Marsh Landing. My wife and I always go to the First Watch on Sand Lake whenever we are in Orlando. The food is great and it is always clean and the people that work there are very friendly. I read they are opening one in Mandarian also.
