I have always wonder, what are they doing on that land under the Dames Point Bridge... I've always seen pickup trucks and dumpster trucks on the land all the time but what do they do there??? any help???
If you are referring to the island underneath the bridge... that is from the dredging of the channel.

if that was to happen, where could they possibly apply a bridge to the island without disturbing traffic along heckscher Dr. and residential areas in ft. Caroline? keep in mind a bridge high enough to clear cargo ships!!!
Here's your answer. The river silts so they dredge regularly and that island is where they place the dredged material.

The Island is called quarantine island, according to old maps.
Oooh, can I have the contract to sell the paper and printer toner to the Port or JTA or DOT or whoever will have to do the environmental studies on that?
That aside, not a bad use for that island!
