This is a tweet from Grant Wahl - he's a basketball and soccer writer for Sports Illustrated who has traveled extensively covering different games and tournaments. He just landed in Germany to cover the Women's World Cup, and I guess that prompted him to offer his opinions on the best rail lines he's encountered. Since it's a tweet it's obviously short on any criteria, but for you world travelers out there I was wondering if you had any opinions you'd like to share. I don't know if he has traveled through Denmark and Sweden much - I would rate them pretty highly, at least based on the few days I spent there.
"GrantWahl: Best rail lines I've been on: 1. China 2. Japan 3. France 4. Germany 5. UK 6. S. Korea 7. USA 8. Argentina"
I haven't been to any other continent so I can't say anything about those countries' rail lines, but the U.S. is seriously lacking when it comes to fast, high-quality rail intercity rail lines. Amtrak just doesn't cut it. I really hope that high speed rail makes it into this country.
