Has it opened? Has anyone tried it? Thoughts?
I'm about to head over there for lunch in a few minutes.
I expect a full report afterwards with graphs and charts.
Still waiting on this lunch report!?!?
::)
Went there and they're behind schedule on opening. Now they expect to have their grand opening this weekend. Ended up having lunch at Jackson's Grill instead.

The EXACT same thing happened to me yesterday. I want to try Soups On but I'm getting so tired of waiting! Their menu looks good!
Went there this afternoon to take out some pints of soup. Good crowd, and a more diverse menu than I'd expected. Not just soups (six or seven varieties) but also a handful of artisan sandwiches and salads. No sodas except what they make in house (COOL--mostly carbonated water with fruit mixes). We took home and loved a ginger carrot soup; other soups purchased were Roasted Cauliflower, and Apricot Lentil. Many vegan offerings, big service with a smile, and low prices made us happy customers.
Sounds nice! Can't wait to try them out!
Stopped in late Thursday afternoon--nice experience. Great Portobello Mushroom and Arugula openface sandwich, nice size bowl of vegan lentil-swiss chard soup, and Morrocan Mint tea to die for. $10 even, tax included. The menu changes daily, got to look at the chalk board. From what I can see there is always a vegetarian, vegan, seafood, meat, and cold/dessert soup selection, plus daily sandwich/salad selections. Good selection of frozen soups to go (like apricot-lentil)
They will be ramping up their cold salads soon too. Talk is that Bakery Moderne may help with the breads in the future. Awesome place, good addition to the neighborhood! Owner has done this in other locations, and has the recipes down.
Stopped in on Monday. Had the cream of asparagus and a tomato, mozzarella, and basil open-faced watchamacallit. Was delish, and pretty good price. I especially like the tax-included pricing. Will add it as a weekly lunch stop (which I might have to switch to a bi-weekly schedule as there are too many good places in Riverside).
Sounds good. Hoping to try it this weekend.
I stopped in on Tuesday and had a pint of the Cream of Crab soup. It cost around $6 or $7 and was pretty great. They have a large variety of soups so when I'm in the mood for a small lunch, I'll definitely be back.

FUTURE STREETCAR LINE CUSTOMERS... Just saying...
I'll be looking for Iced Tea - SOUTHERN STYLE, anybody know?OCKLAWAHA
hey I ate there today and you know it was ok its hard to mess up soup
I need to try this place. I keep hearing good things. Its hard for me to eat soup in the middle of the summer though.
Too hot for any soup but gazpacho.
I don't give up hot coffee during summer months...I view soup in a similar light.
ate there yesterday sandwich rocked, i wish that had a better price point for soup and sandwich $9 is a little steep, and I really dont need that much soup if i am getting a sandwich. But alas i love the bread they use for sandwiches reminds me of up north.
went there the other day...don't know if it was just an off-day, but damn, this place did not meet my expectations...at all.
soups were bland
soups were watery
bread tasted like day-old winn dixie bread
didn't give enough bread
salad was limp and small
everything lacked flavor
and 9 dollars is wayyy to steep for a salad/soup combo
i REALLY wanted to like this place...

I totally agree with you ben says, I have been 4 times and find the soup needing flavor and the mouth feel of a good stock base - no such luck - damn I love a good soup
Dammit soups on - we need salt and cream - STAT!
lol i wonder if someone can go tell them what's up....
i mean, their ONE job is to make a good bowl of soup...and they fail! such a travesty...
:(
oy vey! A little schmaltz please o' please
god forbid they try and make something healthy, salt and cream, really? Sorry have to disagree. I do notice they through some extra salt in there but i send it to the wayside. i've always enjoyed there soups granted i get the ones sans meat. I will agree on the $9 being a little pricey. But the sandwhich bread rocks diff then the soup bread but still winn dixie bread? I dont know about that.
Has Soups On won anyone over? The general reactions I am receiving are "what ev..." Only one person I know "loves it!!!"

Wouldn't go there again if you paid me. Two times I've been were terrrrrible. Nobody I've ever asked has said they've liked it. YET, every time I walk by, somebody is paying for that flavorless water stuff they call soup. Odd.
yeah, they seem to stay fairly busy. in riverside, we pay good money for hope. i've been to brick around ten times, each time I hope that the food will be up to par with the feel of the avondale shops. It's not.

Yup, sounds about right Re: Brick.

A friend of mine loves it, and one of his co-workers goes over there just about every day.
I didn't try any because I can't let myself pay nine bucks for soup and a sandwich......

Think about the Brick, what has really changed since it opened? Same art, same booths, same layout, they did add some water fans for when its hot outside, but really not much has changed, same 2 drafts of beer, a few items on the menu, but pretty much the same old same old. Shows how well consistent, boring works in Jacksonville. Ginjo Sushi was great when the wife and I went there Saturday night!
Back to the thread, I saw tables outside on Saturday at Soups On, which is great for Park and King. I hope they do well.
I also like it a lot & go at least once a week. Lately though their soup selections have been either kinda "meh" or just plain weird. But thats the thing. You have to pay attention to their soup selections each day (on their website) & go when they've got something you might like. As far as the sandwiches, I always stick with either the Turkey & Jarlsberg or the Roast Beef. Get those with some chickpea, tomato, pea, or some kind of lentil based soups & its great.
Anyways, I think its a good get in get out place with fair prices & consistent quality.
