Title: Vote
Post by: michaelw on May 14, 2011, 10:56:44 PM
Vote â€" because it’s all on the line.
Vote â€" because we will move forward not back.
Vote â€" because intolerance and hatred wrecks both us and our enemies.
Vote â€" because still water breeds poison.
Vote â€" because the children need you.
Vote â€" because if you destroy the center, the periphery will collapse.
Vote â€" because if you destroy the periphery, the center will not hold.
Vote â€" because you can.
Vote â€" because those who say it doesn’t matter are lying.
Vote â€" because you’re happy or sad, angry or calm.
Vote â€" for or against.
Vote â€" because this city is one city of many parts.
Vote â€" because a hundred years from now you won’t vote but the world will be different
         because you voted now.

In addition to voting (pretty much the bare minimum of doing your civic duty) go out and volunteer for the candidate of your choice to get out the vote today and tomorrow.  Even if it's just for an hour or two, go out and knock on doors, call people, wave signs, drive voters to the polls, etc.  Every single vote counts, especially if the race is as close as it currently is.

GOTV!

All this and we will probably only get 20% of the population at the polls. The voter apathy in our town is pathetic.

while I agree our apathy is pathetic, I think the number will be over 25% (closer to 1/3 of population of voting age)...and likely 40% or more of registered voters
