Post by: fsujax on May 06, 2011, 10:11:26 AM
The results are in for 2010. From the Daily Record

The Fortune 500 list of the largest U.S. companies includes four Jacksonville-based corporations, based on 2010 revenues. CSX Corp. ranks No. 230 with revenue of $10.64 billion. Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. is No. 324 at $7.25 billion. Fidelity National Financial is No. 398 at $5.74 billion and Fidelity National Information Services is No. 426 at $5.33 billion.

Pretty amazing that Winn Dixie is still up there. They seem to barely have a presence in their hometown anymore. Publix domination.

If Winn-Dixie moved  there HQ to Riverside Ave. You would have 4 F500s in a 6-7 block area.  Outside of NYC or maybe Chicago, that is probably unique.

I wonder how much longer Winn-Dixie is going to be around. I have a couple friends who work there who tell me their future isn't too bright.

They are not far away I would consider them still in a core neighborhood.

I think Winn Dixie will survive. If anything they may close more stores and not open any new ones. But I dont see them going away. I have also wanted Winn dixie HQ's to be relocated. I feel that a fortune 500 company should be located Downtown. As many empty structures there are DT, I surprised the city has never did anything to try and intice them to relocate.

They seem to have been reinventing themselves a lot over the years. They just need to focus on the right differentiation from their competition and stand on those. Their mission statement could use a rewrite:

QuoteWinn-Dixie's mission is to earn trust & loyalty every day.

Compare it to this:

QuotePublix strives to be the premier quality food retailer in the world.

The also just opened up the new model on CR210 in St Johns County. They should have done a store like that in Downtown! I really do not see Winn-Dixie going anywhere. I enjoy shopping there and getting my fuel perks!
