Title: Olio Market on Bay Street
Post by: RockStar on May 01, 2011, 01:43:23 PM
New restaurant Olio Market is supposed to open soon on Bay Street on the ground floor of Churchwell Lofts. I walked by the other night and the kitchen looked to be near completion.

From their website, looks to be just lunch. Owner describes it as an upscale Panera.

Eating there now. Two thumbs up on food and interior.
Another good addition for Downtown.
The tide is turning...

I've been a few times and in total have tried... the chicken sandwich, the pork sandwich, the grilled cheese (with duck), the gyro (lamb), the crab soup, the spinach salad, and the caprese.

Hands down, grilled cheese and spinach salad have been my favourites. That grilled cheese was huge and filled with duck.

And, I preferred the chicken over the pork. The gyro was quite nice - not overly seasoned like I've had elsewhere. The crab soup was good... but I do believe it could be a bit chunkier.

And the caprese. Oh, the caprese. It's not drowned in balsamic like everywhere else in town serves caprese. Quite amazing.

I'd have to say the ratio of ingredients is probably why everything is so delicious. Nothing is overdone. Nothing is lacking. Balance is amazing.
