Did anyone see in the new Mike Hogan visits the worst apartment complex on the Westside to speak with residents. Do these peoples vote really matter?
He's promised that, as Mayor, he'll visit all murder scenes, uh . . . why?
VERY interesting.
it's just a means of trying for more votes
I would wear a bullet-proof vest any where in that vicinity.

In the news article it said the visit was arranged by a public relations firm that is advising the Hogan campaign.

My thing is if he represents tax cuts, and imo Eureka Gardens is a tax burden. The people in those projects wont even take the time to get their lives fixed, what makes Hogan think those people will actually be at the polls? He dodges debates & other events, but feels the menaces in Eureka Garden need attention? Um no!

The only time those people vote is if it has something to do with EBT, Hud or Welfare....Making Jax better matters lil to those people. Actually bulldozen that entire complex and moving those people to Oceanway would do wonder for Cassat Ave as a whole.
Hogan is such a joke. He only visited out there as attempt to show he "cares". And trust me, the residents of eureka gardens probably are not even voting. And If they do, it will be for Alvin Brown. I know they attitudes of those residents. Im shocked they didnt open the door with a gun. LOL

In this election, every vote matters. (And in every other election, too.)
I don't fault the tax collector for this stunt. This will be a close race.
Here's the deal. If he just visits once, it's a publicity stunt. If he visits there over and over and over again, month after month - then we have something we can work with here.
Right now, it's just to early to tell what in the world is happening.
I have to agree with previous posts. I do not believe that the Eureka Gardens crowd is going to vote in the upcoming election. My guess is that many people thought that Nat Glover was going to be mayor, but were disillusioned when the system won out instead. Many voters of color are probably asking, "Why bother this time?" It's a stupid sentiment, but it's how many folks think.

Voters of color? If they do not vote they are not VOTERs...more like leaches. I hope to God Brown does not attempt a stunt like this. In politics leave the people of the ghetto out of it. They are content with how things are and really don't see the world outside of their tiny winy ghetto apartment complex. As citizens they really dont count. A street walk in Riverside or San Marco would be more productive.
wow!
Mike Hogan looked like a frightened schoolboy as he approached the residents of E.G. I would love to see him show up there about 10 minutes after dark....oh wait...that is not going to happen. Let's be honest. This was a publicity stunt. If he is elected he will treat the people of E.G. as it suits him, which will not be as altruistic as his "pre-mayor" persona exudes. Best

This is very rude and ignorant. I live in Oceanway and it is nothing like that complex. Oceanway is a very safe neighborhood. That area is much dangerous, not just because of that complex but just becuase of everything there. People in Oceanway have sense. Besides the recent thing with Shirley Oaks, I haven't seen any crime in this entire neighborhood since 2004.
