Never knew about the clock or even noticed. Another tid bit of history I learned today!
The clock is a great piece of Jacksonville history.
It is. Nice to learn that is is being restored. :)

Awesome Picture, Lunican!
QuoteThe $2.7 million project started in late 2009 with a goal to make Laura Street more pedestrian friendly to draw people and walk-in businesses downtown.
WOW, did it really cost 2.7 million to do Laura Street?
Back in the 1980s, a JTA bus making the turn from Laura to Adams clipped the clock, smashing it to lots of pieces. So, it has already been restored at least once.

yes...and it cost over $3 million to do the reverse laning project on Bay Street.
and while I think laurea St was a bit overdone (expensive) it won't take much to recoup that $ in new investment...the Trio is just one example
The Trio being revitalized would be a major step forward on Laura . * fingers crossed

Wow! Time flies!
Man, just getting back from San Francisco and see that picture. If Jacksonville had kept their trollies, who knows how different this city would be today
