Tonite my wife and I were invited to a meet and greet for alvin brown. There was a big crowd, including some heavy republican and democratic contributors. Definitely an event that illustrates the bipartisan support for Alvin. What was especially inspiring was listening to alvins commitment to older neighborhoods and historic preservation. He spoke of his inspiring vision of economic development and job creation by leveraging the port, improving our public education system the great equalizer as he calls it. A real committment to making downtown a destination and not a pass through. A downtown with a movie theatre, diners and restuarants and of course a
new and first class winn dixie. He talked about the importance of connecting downtown with the surrounding historic neighborhoods and the rest of Jacksonville. About making downtown the face of Jacksonville as a place that attracts business and creates jobs and makes us all proud. One major republican who listened said, after leaving several checks, he loved hearing Alvin talk about the present and the future and making Jacksonville a city a home our children will always be able to find ample opportunity. He liked that Alvin did not play on the
fears of people, but our hopes and dreams. Alvin spoke from the front yard of this beautiful historic home and even a couple of passers by stopped to
listen in. What everyone seemed to love the most though was his story of beating the odds since his childhood.
How he worked hard in school, played by the rules, and with the help of some mentors including his grandmother and pastor, he was able to earn an MBA from our own Jacksonville university. This man very well could make history in Jacksonville. I hope he does. I am ready for a uniter
who has leadership fueled by his passion for our future and greater opportunity for generations to come. Alvin is
catching on. The more people hear him the more inspired they become inspired to support him. Tonight I began to imagine the electricity of excitement our city would feel when he is elected mayor. He has a lot of ground to
cover, but this man who has beat the odds his whole life is starting to gain real traction. It's exciting to watch.
Matt Carlucci sr.
:) awesome, Matt!
I love it any unity in today's political climate is nice.
I cant believe I missed it. Good to see Alvin getting support from folks across the political spectrum.

Need Meet & Greet in Avondale/Ortega and every other quadrant.
Brown said his internal polling was at 45%-48%. It is winnable.
Matt, does Alvin intend to expand on his past experiences?
For example, it would be good to hear detailed specific job creation and urban revitalization stories (ie. In New Orleans we did this and it created "x" amount of jobs, etc.) from his time as the Clinton administration's Senior Advisor for Urban Policy and how he intends to apply those concepts within Jacksonville's setting (ie. We successfully implemented this concept at the Port of "x" that can be utilized to help JAXPORT accomplish "z", etc.).
He does need to cover all of the local regions to get the most impact! Talking from a pulpit does not enthuse me at all!
CS...Alvin has been all over the City the past few weeks....downtown for ArtWalk and RAM, the becahes, Springfield, Avondale...and in about 1 hour, at my office.
Lakelander, good idea. I'll pass along!

I cannot WAIT to see him at the Florida Yacht Club or Timuquana CC.
Alvin is having a huge meet and greet in Ortega by major republican! Actually, he is having them all over but to think Ortega is out of his reach is wrong.

Matt - No disrespect, because I voted for you and I respect the heck out of you. I stand by my original statement, that I am looking forward to meeting him at one of either of the private clubs.
Matt, any chance that he will come to some of the fine clubs on our side of the river? There are several people I know who voted for Mullaney that would like the opportunity to meet him. It would be good to see him in that setting, because I think people would be surprised at how well he does with all types.

David Roman is a good man, he was great in his work at the City.
I must agree with Mr. Carlucci, the meet and greet in Springfield was a great event. As someone who grew up outside San Francisco, I know what happens when a city has a Downtown that is considered a destination and not a pass through. Alvin Brown seems to have the right vision for downtown and the potential that it has to help not only the economic growth of the city, but also the morale and national stature that we have. Once he becomes Mayor, it's up to us as citizens to work with him and hold him accountable for putting the resources in place for our downtown to become vibrant and an enjoyable place to be for the future.
