This is probably been covered in MJ before but what is going on at the corner of Riverside Ave and Edison St? Huge hole in the ground with what appears to be the foundation of a very large building going in. Is this a new office/retail development I heard about some time ago?
Basically they are re-doing the pond and doing general infrastructure inprovements. This would also be the site of 200 Riverside if it ever gets built. Ultimately, there are plans to incorporate a small ampitheater with the pond but I'm not sure if that is part of the improvements going on now or if that will get built when 200 Riverside gets built. Its actually on the corner of Riverside and Forest.
ah dadgummit >:(..you're right..Don't know why I wrote Edison. So that huge conrete block wall is for a retention Pond?
Yes, they (FDOT) expanded that pond to take the extra run-off water from the expansion of the I-10/I-95 interchange.
There are now three big retention ponds right around that area. Think I will buy a little building nearby and sell bait and beer.
You can look at the actual plans with the water feature on this thread...

nice...too bad it looks like it will not happen.
That's the new water park and swimmin' hole for the neighborhood. Take the water taxi and bring the kiddies to the newest public pool. Cool off and picnic in the tree covered park right next to the new pool. The water slide will be the biggest in the nation (the water is at least 20 feet deep. Take scuba lessons. This almost qualifies as an open water dive. Reserved by the police and fire departments to practice search and recovery techniques at night, with special demonstrations for the public every Saturday morning - rain or shine. You think Friendship fountain will be cool when it reopens? The water cannon on the center of the pool will shoot a stream of water to rival any natural or man-made geyser. Coupled with the light shows at night, this will be an attraction to put J-ville on the map. Unfortunately, underwater viewing was not planned in the construction so plans to bring in Shamu were scrapped.

We could also build 3 boat ramps for M-train.. he seems to want a boat ramp on Riverside Ave. He is right.. it would not be cost-effective to build it at Annie Lytle . ;)
so will the pond piece look similar, or will it be another duck pond?

Why don't we add a roundhouse with steam engines and we can recreate childhood memories of times gone by. At night we can dance around bonfires and catch fire flies in the air.
ROFLMAO ! :)
