This election has nothing to do with partisan politics in my opinion. This election has everything to do with issues that affect us, our children , grandchildren ECt... First, a little back ground about this man. Alvin brown fought great odds growing up. He worked hard and played by the rules. He worked his way through college with the help of his Winn Dixie job as a meat cutter, his grandmother and pastor. He earned an MBA from Jacksonville university. Caught the eye of 2 presidents. Then President Fran kinne of Jacksonville university and president of the united states Bill Clinton. Not bad. His jobs while working at the white house centered around economic development , job creation and commerce in struggling cities. He was very successful and whether you liked president Clinton personally or not or even voted for him, those were very prosperous days! What a great story of the American dream. In addition, he is backed by a wonderful wife santhia who is highly intelligent as well. Now about the issues. His focus is on jobs, smart government and fiscal responsibility, economic development, education( both his children attend public school) ,downtown development and public safety. He speaks in great detail to these issues on his web site and at the debates he attends. (btw, he attended all televised debates). Add to this a great passion for public service and love for Jacksonville, along with a proven record of overcoming great odds in life, with deep experience in job creation and economic development in struggling cities, you have in my view the most qualified candidate with his focus centered on the issues most important to us all. Add to that his youth. I believe Alvin is our future. It's time to put the past behind us. Alvins election I believe will excite Jacksonville beyond any event in recent history. What will get him elected? Besides the usual ingredients like money and tv, it is younger voters turning out. That is the large percentage of viewers of this forum I think. Younger voters dont care so much about political party and race. At least this is what this ol' guy thinks. So you all, if you
agree with me , get out to vote. Get your friends to vote. Your brothers and sisters. You get the picture. This can be done but it's up to whose voters turn out. According to president Lincoln, " leadership takes people where they
want to go. Great leadership takes people where they ought to go". Alvin brown gets it.

+1 .. Thank you Matt!
Bravo Matt.... it couldnt be said any better! Lets get out and VOTE!
Saw some cheerful canvassers on the sidewalk outside Riverside Arts Market today. They asked if they could count on my vote for Alvin Brown. I said "absolutely!"
So when does early voting start up again?
Brilliantly written! My partner and I had already decided we would vote for Alvin Brown. We haven't been happy here and once I finish my master's, we plan on leaving Jacksonville. If Mr. Brown can begin to turn this city around, perhaps we will think about staying. If Hogan is elected, you can guarantee we will be moving in 2013. :-\
Great news, Councilman Carlucci! The support of your family is great news indeed to all of us who are supporting Mr. Brown.
I can say that I have never voted for a democrat, but I have learned from visiting this sight just how much needs to be done with downtown and Mr. Brown seems committed to making it better. Mr Hogan does not.
Downtown has so much potential and I would love to have more options for taking my daughters there to visit.
Since moving to Duval in february, I have the chance to be more involved in making that happen...Mr. Brown may just have this republicans vote!
