Title: Big Springfield Clean Up Saturday from 9 to Noon
Post by: CityLife on April 07, 2011, 02:30:29 PM
The Springfield Block Captains are doing their monthly cleanups again after a brief break.

This one will take place from 9 to noon this Saturday. The Block Captains and volunteers will be focusing on the NE Quadrant of Springfield (north of 8th and East of Main) as well as other areas in that vicinity. The Spring Home Tour will be taking place shortly and this cleanup will be working to clean areas near the tour.

First Baptist has offered to assist in the cleanup and will be sending somewhere between 50 and 100 people.  The last 2 times the Block Captains have partnered with organizations for Springfield cleanups have been very successful. The first was with a troop of Boy Scouts who did a fantastic job of cleaning up Hogan's Creek and Klutho Park. The other was with Springfield Animal Care and Rescue who did wonders in cleaning up Confederate Park for Dog Days in The Park.

We will be meeting in the Wachovia/Wells Fargo parking lot at 6th and Hubbard St (just off Main) at 9 am. There will be a BBQ/Cookout at a Springfield residents home after the cleanup for anyone who attends. CityKidz has graciously offered to donate free ice cream to anyone who participates in the cleanup.

I know a lot of people on the forums are interested in Springfield and this is a good way to get to see the neighborhood and get to know its residents/leaders. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend.

The weather forecast looks favorable. Sweat builds character.
