Anyone know what's up with metjax? It's been offline line, and you get an error report when you go to their website....just curious... ???
RIP metjax?
i'm not sure. but i always felt like a merger of the two should happen.
The merger was pushed for over a year ago. Metrojacksonville had a great front page, and metjax has extremely active forums. Sadly, Jimmy never felt like working with everyone to include the two. When MetJax crashed in may, it was just good timing for MetroJacksonville to spread its wings and bring up its own forums. Now it looks like that was the absolute right decision. All that information on metjax is now gone.
I'm not sure what is going on either. It seems like it has been removed because of the "Forbidden" page that appears when you try to access it.
I guess Jim's situation is worse than I thought. He told me that he was going through some personal and buisness complications when I spoke to him a couple months ago. I asked that he give me some more substantial control over the forums but that didn't happen. This shutdown will likely be the ultimate demise of MetJax. At least we are all welcome here!
Guess that's it then...sorry to see it go, but I guess we all knew it was inevitable...Thankfully there's a few places in which we can still chat...this being one of them!
i checked it at work and that big forbidden popped up. i had to double check i didnt accidentally pull up something like metjaXXX.com lol

From someone on the Metro Jacksonville Board - that's a pretty good summation
i mean if nothing else couldnt they just re-route someones pages who typed in metjax.com to go to to metrojacksonville.com?
I sent a message to Jim yesterday but haven't gotten a response back yet.
I would just let it go Jason, Metjax was a shell of its former self anyway. Its like seeing Muhamed Ali now with Parkinsons after seeing how powerful he was in his hay day. It makes you sad, and long for the old days, but you can never have that back... Not to wax too poetic about it, but those who posted on that forum from April 2006-Dec 2006 understand what I am talking about.
I'm here and am not going anywhere. ;)
It's a Twister! It's a Twister!
Henry! Henry! I can't find Met-Jax!
She's somewhere out in the storm!
Met-Jax!

The E-mpire.com video game website is still up.

That site is the only contact I have with Jim. Still haven't heard anything.
Like somone else said....you may as well just let it go....this is the second time it's down for an extended length of time and I'm sure that the regulars have already moved on to other boards, including this one. It was fun, when it was good...but it never really recovered after that last time.
it's back.... but no one really noticed.
The Spammers did.
Geez....I just found out it was back....like everyone else, I thought it was gone for good and stopped checking
Would it be a good idea to archive all of our old posts there since it may crash again?
Unless you do a copy and past, the only one who can do anything to protect the old posts are the moderators and/or Jim. The way it's looking over there, with just about no postings these days, it's only a question as to how much longer it may remain up and running....it's been so unstable for months. It's a shame....to me, it's like going back to your old neighborhood and finding that all your friends have since moved...
One of the problems I've had using the site is that my hospital's IS has blocked any forums. Don't ask me how I'm able to post here, that ability could be taken away soon.
Couldn't you just save the Internet web page as an offline document? That seems easier than cutting and pasting.
I don't know if that would enable you to be able to really access the entire site... as I would think you'd have to be online, logged in and so on. I've never tried it...so in all honesty, I don't really know if that would work...guess there's only one way to find out, unless someone can respond that knows more about doing something like that.
OK, I got on Metjax early this morning and found out that I could only see the first two lines in each of my posts, so saving the IE window as an offline document won't work. Ugghh, I've got a lot of cutting and pasting to do!
Good luck with it....
Charleston-
I think it is admirable that you want to save all our posts from metjax. There are a lot of good thoughts and memories there.
Thanks, spidey. The trick is being able to do it while taking care of a 2-week-old boy and his mother! :D Hopefully, metjax won't phase out quickly, and I can save stuff a little bit at a time.
Although it may still be up and running...it's pretty much dead now...it's a real shame that it's been allowed to just waste away like it has. Good luck with copying and pasting!
