JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two people were hurt Monday morning when a car went into a downtown building.
Henry Lafayette, the driver of the car, and his girlfriend, who was a passenger, told Channel 4 he was distracted by an argument going on between him and the girlfriend's son when he left the road about 9 a.m. and went into the former Worman's Deli at the corner of Broad and Adam streets.
The vacant building was heavily damaged.

Lafayette initially told Channel 4 he was a passenger in the car, but police confirmed he was the driver. Police said Lafayette was on his way to Florida State College at Jacksonville when he got distracted, swerved in front of another car, hit a parking meter and crashed into the building.
Two people were taken to a hospital.
Lafayette was cited with careless driving.
That place is a car magnet. I always sat as far away from that corner as possible. Another downtown building to be demolished.

well, this will be a great excuse to tear the building down!
Probably so .. on the other hand....seems like the driver/ Owner of the car is responsible for repairing the building.. I mean... Is it that structurally compromised? appears to have been struck in front?
