Bill Maher brought on some interesting personalities to debate the use of religion in every day life.

Is he right? Did he pick on one religion over another? Does Bill seem a little insecure at times?

Only every second of his life. Other than that not really.
Maher's movie "Religulous" sums up his opinion thoroughly.
I enjoyed it. If half of the people who profess to be Christians
truly followed the teachings of Christ then many of the problems we
Americans face would be reduced or removed from modern
society. Homelessness, unwanted pregnancies, poverty and hungry children could all be greatly reduced. Problem is the vast majority
of Christians are Christians only on Sunday for one hour. If Christ came back today he would not recognize 99% of the folks who profess to be Christians as Christians.
And for the record, he absolutley does not pick on one religion over any other. He thinks they are all absurd.
Maher's politics aren't 'leftist' enough for me, but his thoughts on religion are dead-on. Can't wait to see him this May at the Florida Theater.
Maher has the best show on TV.

Yeah, probably the only anti-establishment show on TV, which in my opinion, makes it the best...

Maybe not... I bet he would recognize Maher tho... :)

That is because HBO is the bomb.

99% may be a bit strong but you have a very valid point. There is a lot of stuff that the emerging church is trying to undo.
Maher = Liberal Glenn Beck ::)
Agree with danno. Pastor Rob Bell of Mars Hill Bible Church is a breath of fresh air. If you're into that sort of thing, you should look him up. His Nooma series is particularly gripping.

The difference is Maher is intentionally a comedian.

If you say so. I don't find him the least bit comical. His 'jokes' are cheap & easy. Comedy for rubes.
I don't find his jokes cheap or easy. After all, his jokes cost him Politically Incorrect. Going after the establishment is never easy, either.
I also disagree that he is the 'liberal Glenn Beck'. Glenn Beck is literally a crazy person, full of half-wit remarks and half-baked conspiracy theories.
^^ These comments are coming from someone who doesn't even agree with Maher 50% of the time...but yet, I do believe he's hysterical.
Maher is sometimes the equal opposite of Beck, but on the whole, Beck has no rival for lunacy espoused regularly.
Let us remember: Maher has a comedy show.

To each his own I suppose. Maher is actually pretty intelligent. Beck is a fear monger thats should be wearing a tin foil hat.

Love the 'tin foil' touch. Dead on. ::)
Ha! Just wait until he has Reynolds Aluminum as a sponsor. Tin hats will be urged on all his listeners, too.
I watch Maher's show religiously.....Oh wait, maybe I shouldn't...never mind. He's pretty hilarious though! :)
I see what you did there^ :D
