Did it come as a real surprise to anyone that candidate Rick Mullaney dropped the first negative TV ad in the 2011 Jacksonville mayoral race? I wasn't surprised.
Very disappointing.
This is exactly why I do not like politics :)
Clearly the polling numbers in the Mullaney camp and others show that Audrey Moran is ahead of him. He has been within a couple of points of both she and Alvin Brown recently. He is working hard for the number two position on the R side of the ticket which Moran now holds. Make no mistake that he will do and say whatever it takes to crawl up her back and take her down.
I wonder why we call the "leader"...knowing full well they really are'nt?
I'm currently in Melbourne. What does the ad say?
The only reason a politician goes negative is because they are falling behind. To bad. This is the politics of the past.
i caught it last night...... it was something along the lines of.. "Audrey slipped up and stated she would support" are you ready......... "RAISING TAXES"
Diane - this is a unitary election, there will be no "Republican" or "Democratic" side after the First Election - the top two vote getters will face off in the May election, whether they are both Dems. or Repubs.
And Hogan's ad blaming the "Liberals" in City Hall for raising taxes wasn't a negative ad? What "liberals"? That ad has been running for days, if not weeks.
I am well aware this is a unitary election but also well aware that party politics drives Jacksonville elections. Thats a fact. Nine more days and we will know how the first leg of this shakes out.
You like the last sixteen years of politics in the City of Jacksonville? Vote for Mullaney, the candidate with no real vision, no ethics, no independence and complete contempt for the citizens of the city.
No, Thanks
I want the names of all those darn liberals in city hall. I want to blame them for all the problems in the city and all the horrible fees we are paying. THAT IS THE DUMBEST AD ON EARTH!!! I just hope the citizens of this fair city are not that stupid. But I fear they are.
Oh, and when I see the title of this thread, I think "Rick Scott" - he is certainly a negative creep.

Of course they are... just mentioning the word "Liberal" has too much negative power associated with it. Oh no, there's one of those liberals - grab your picket sign and gargle up so your voice can yell louder than the rest!
Seriously, is there such a thing as a "liberal arts degree" anymore? I would think we've put so much stigma on the word that some would call it anything else.

There's definitely a Scott connection. Suzie Wiles is pushing Mr. Mullaney on Jacksonville at least as hard as she pushed Rick Scott on Florida.
Thank goodness we can come to this site and read a thread like this and get away from all that negativity we see in those political ads. :D
Mullaney's camp says the ad ran early and by mistake. I'm sure the results of the Hob Nob straw poll didn't contribute to it at all...

Moran's camp responds...
Rival mocks Rick Mullaney's 34-point plan: "Point 35 is 'When desperate, go negative' "

wonderful. this ought to make the debate good tonight. These two ought to be teaming up on Hogan and not each other!
Agree that's what they ought to do. But Mullaney is clearly trying to switch tactics and go after Moran (and her voters) instead of Hogan (and his).
What worries me is a Moran/Mullaney snipe-fest tonight that leaves Hogan sitting back, looking like a statesman, which everyone knows he's not.
I hope Audrey rises above it.

She's not trying hard enough in the debate... He's baiting her and she's taking it.
I hate politics
