Hi everyone,

The City of Jacksonville is gearing up for another great Jacksonville Jazz Festival over Memorial Day weekend, May 26-29, in the heart of downtown Jacksonville.

We have just posted the first glimpse of this year's Jacksonville Jazz Festival poster on our facebook page so take a look!

Jazz Fest was AWESOME last year!

I actually declined an invitation to go out of town that weekend just so I wouldn't miss this year's JF!

Depends on if that was Friday or Saturday night.

Friday I went to some of Tito Puente Jr and some of Buckwheat Zydeco(love Teddy Washington).  You should have spaced those out better, lol.

I didn't make it all the way through Saturday.  Spent too much time at Crazzy Eddie's Beer Garden and had to take a nap before returning back for the after performaces at the Omni once the regular festival was over.

Sunday I think I ate wayyy too much jambalaya from BG and a whole thick crust pizza at Chicago Pizza(Jax Landing) and was sick most of Monday.  Overall, still a great time  ;D

Jerry Moran.. please pony up for a vendor license this year, I'd rather get sick from eating too much of your food than gorging myself at Chicago Pizza  ;).  At least gorging myself would be worth it, lol.

Jerry can't. He's too busy complaining to DVI, ABT and anyone else about ArtWalk.

Bump.

I've never been to the Jazz Fest before so this will be my first time out.  I'm personally looking forward to checking out the McCoy Tyner Trio on Sat afternoon--a great excuse to come downtown for the day and listen to the pianist who played on a bunch of classic John Coltrane records, and then maybe grab a cocktail or three at Dos Gatos or a bite to eat.  Maybe pick up a used book or CD at Chamblins.  I've got to say I'm really glad this is now held downtown--the pics from 2010 make our fair city look pretty damn cool and a place I'd actually like to visit!

I just noticed that McCoy Tyner was on Saturday's bill - I saw him in Manhattan a few years ago - incredible performer!

Hope to see you there, LPHovercraft!

I bumped into Jerry out front of Subway the other day and we talked about this. Apparently it's an issue with the insurance the city would have required him to take.

He had some signs he had printed up and I believe La Cena will be serving beer, wine, and one menu item (a shrimp dish if I recall).

Just returned from a lunchtime wander about downtown.  Streets are blocked off and crews are putting up stages and concession tents.  Weather should be good so everyone should pick one day or night and head on down...  Good chance to use the skyway as you will have a hard time parking anywhere near the venues. :)

Stephen, Hope you enjoyed the piano competition as much as we did.  Choosing among those very, very talented people had to be really hard especially since they had such different styles.

Noel Freidline and Renee Villarosa's short set while the judging was going on was worth the trip all by itself.  That lady can SING!

Well I just got woken up about a half hour ago by the sound check at the Main St venue. Sounds great. Can't wait to get down there this evening. Hope to see some of you.

My wife and I are looking forward to this. Anybody know if there's a bike rack near MOSH and the Main St Bridge? I can't remember.

On Adams Street in front of Farah and Farah (across from The Carling) they have a whole row of food tents set up. I saw Indochine, Burrito Gallery, and others named as being vendors. I can hear them doing mic checks and warming up the musicians up in my apartment next door. I'm getting pretty excited.
