Council candidates have differing ideas on how to grow District 7 economy
By David Hunt
A man who is trying to reconcile his criminal past by helping kids is running against a City Hall veteran whose connections have raised some past ethical questions.
Councilman Johnny Gaffney, 50, is up against Marc A. McCullough Sr., 40, for the District 7 seat Gaffney has held since 2007.
Both are Democrats. With just the two of them running, the March 22 municipal election becomes a winner-take-all scenario without the need for a runoff in May.

They both have a past that's not great, but it's what they've done since that makes the difference
I heard McCullough speak and I like him. If Springfield was my neighborhood, I would vote for him.
Mr McCullough, I would suggest you contact Noone about a trip down Hogans Creek by kayak.
Marc and I have kayaked Hogans Creek. He jumped on the opportunity early and says its going to be a top priority but haven't seen him post or participate in anything since then. You would hope that he would be making the calls and then telling all the constituents in Dist.7 that all of this will happen as soon as I have the legislative opportunity and authority given by you the voter to me the candidate that will make access to Hogans Creek happen now.
My bad, I thought you had told me you two hadn't scheduled a paddle yet...
1000 apologies.
