Lori Boyer:  Why I am Running for City Council

I believe the decisions made in the next four years will have great consequences for the future
of the City and I want my children and grandchildren to have the same opportunities for
success and happiness that were available to me in Jacksonville. I have lived in District 5 since
1987 and have the skills, education, and business background to be effective and positively
impact our future.

I am determined to control the cost and size of our local government, help rebuild our local
economy and job market and protect our neighborhoods and the value of our homes.

San Marco Preservation Society (SMPS), Southside Baptist Church and the students of Julia Landon Middle School are sponsoring a forum tomorrow (Saturday, February 26th) with the candidates running for District 5.

The forum will be held at 2:00 pm at the fellowship hall of Southside Baptist Church (1435 Atlantic Boulevard, corner of Atlantic & Hendricks Avenue).  The event will be moderated by Terry Casey, professional on-camera host and TV spokesman.

I hope that many of you will attend, and if you can't, I believe that Lakelander or Stephendare will be attending and possibly doing a liveblog.  More to follow about that from them.

It will be a great opportunity to meet the candidates, including Lori.

Can this drivel please be removed??  I feel like it tarnishes a qualified candidate's honest attempt at reaching their constituents.

I am not very well informed on the district 5 candidates, as I am in district 14, but I have heard from many people that I respect that Lori is an excellent candidate.  District 5 is crucial to the urban core's success, and has the potential to be our most celebrated area of town.  Strong leadership is needed for that district, and the city, to help it maximize potential.

We feel your pain Capn... 98% of GG postings are negative and contribute nothing to the discussion... but like Stephen said... his is within the rules of civility.  Boring, silly, unproductive are adjectives that describe GG postings.  We all hope for something better...

Stephen nailed it.

I'm a lefty who rarely crosses over, but Lori's sharp mind and careful preparation for every issue she gets involved with is beyond compare.

Those of us in District 5 deserve Lori Boyer as our City Council representative, after being woefully underserved by our councilperson for the last eight years.

Thanks for all the nice comments, and thank you Stephen for covering the forum this afternoon at Southside Baptist Church. I appreciate your interest and involvement in the upcoming elections.
