Title: Caltrain too shutter half its stations?

If they do this then I say the CALTRANS should also shut half of the freeway ramps as well. Fair is fair!

How does the expression go?  Cutting off your nose to spite your face?  In order to reduce operating costs of a government run system, they kill the economy in the areas that have seen new development and increased tax revenue for that same government - that came as a result of the train system.  Sounds like something Jacksonville would do.

Well quite frankly the usage isn't very high.  Heres the last report on usage.

http://www.caltrain.com/Assets/Stats+and+Reports/Ridership/2010_Caltrain_Ridership_Counts.pdf

Daily ridership was at 36,000 people.  If anyone has ever driven through that area knows thats about 35 seconds on the streets.
