Anybody else noticing that the water has seemed to be high in chlorine the last day or two???
yes, and actually for a little longer than that. i don't know why, but i've heard from people all over springfield and downtown as well as experiencing it myself.
I have been told by the JEA today that there was a system related problem over the weekend that has been taken care of. We shall see!

I remember this happening a few years ago as well, and a pretty long forum thread about it on one of the forums.
At tonight's Urban Core CPAC meeting, Mrs. Moved was pretty awesome expressing concerns to JEA about their safety sensors (or lack of). I believe they are taking steps to inspect and correct the five other smaller stations which have similar safety procautions to the one which recently failed.
Nothing like JEA being habitually late to the party...
why do they need safety sensors? That's what customers are for! (and as long as they don't over do it, we will still have to pay our bills)
I can't stand how hard our water is here...soap doesn't foam as much in hard water and we end up using more..
Ever notice how it takes several minutes to get actually WET in your shower?
In past years I've had to take my shower head apart twice a year and clean all the lime and calcium deposits out...now it is like every other month.
I'm surprised Stalactites aren't dripping down and forming. >:(

I've noticed this, too. How expensive (both up front and longterm) is it to install a water softener? Anybody know if that would help?
Re. the chlorine. Chlorine in the water in concentrations strong enough to smell is a very bad thing for your health. Some water softners will remove if they have special filters. To remove it from your drinking water, the easiest thing is to get an activated charcoal filter water pitcher like Brita.
to remove chlorine from your drinking water, start lynching the useless sacks ov poop at JEA :)
Water softeners will run from <$900 installed to nearly $3000 for top-of-the-line. Bag of salt for $5.00 every couple of months.
In the long run (three of four years) you will probably save money since you will use 1/4 the soap for everything including your hair and body. Clothes will last longer, plumbing fixtures will last longer.
