VIVA LA FLORIDA!
OCKLAWAHA[/center]
Well, I have seen a couple of these pictures randomly on the web, especially that tornado picture. You sure they come attached with their locations? These scenes were almost impossible, but here is a stab for fun.
A) Virginia
B) Arkansas
C) Alabama
D) Tennessee
E) Arkansas
F) Florida
G) Florida
H) Tennessee
I) Texas
J) Georgia
K) Texas
L) There’s no way anyone can legitimately guess that (anywhere there’s a warm lake with cool air…so almost any of the states)
M) Could be Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, or just about any of those states in the northern portions (can’t be Texas I don’t think)
N) Texas
O) OK, I have seen this picture on so many sites. Can you even tell us where it is?
P) Texas or Virginia
I have been around the South, and I, too, have been to Colombia where I have family, but I can only give sorta’ kinda’ educated guesses as to where these photos might have been taken (and I’m not foreign to plants and environments). I wish the photos were slightly more identifiable…like if someone had been to that place they could tell you, oh…that’s in Franklin, TN, etc.
Anyone else try this yet?

Florida
I was leaning that way also... there were only two pix that I was unsure about...
A) Georgia
B) Tennessee
C) Virginia
D) Alabama
E) Virginia
F) I can't see this Pic
G) Arkansas
H) Tennessee
I) Alabama
J) Georgia
K)Florida
L) Tennessee
M) Virginia
N) Texas
O) Florida
P) Florida
I think they are all FLORIDA.
Might Be's:
B-AR
C-TN
N-AR
O-AR
P-TX
a) FL
b) AL
c) AR
d) TN
e) TN
f) TX
g) VA
h) GA
i) GA
j) GA
k) FL
l) FL
m) GA
n) TX
o) TN
p) FL
why do i get the feeling that this is a trick photo essay and all are from the same state?
Guys, they can't all be Florida. Come on. There are plenty of pictures that are obviously not Florida and I'm pretty sure the tornado picture can't be pegged to any place.
Here are just a few links that show the tornado pic:

The first picture could be along the coast of some parts of FL, but looks more like coastal NC or VA.
The second picture does not show Florida pines. And it shows substantial hills that look too large for the hills in FL.
The third picture shows metallurgy, a huge industry in AL and virtually non-existent in Florida.
The fourth picture depicts rapids that could be seen on perhaps the Ocoee River in TN, but that picture is certainly not shot in Florida...duh...now that I see the moss, maybe it's in Texas or Arkansas or the southern end of the Chatooga River between GA and SC
The fifth picture depicst limestone cliffs and temperate fauna...not in Florida
The sixth picture could actually be in Florida...common plant here
The seventh picture could be in Florida or Texas
The eighth picture shows a decent sized dam that could be in Tennessee or Alabama or even Georgia, but is certainly not in Florida!
The ninth picture shows moss, sabal palms, live oaks or hickories, and small hills. Could be Florida, Eastern Texas, or a variety of places.
The tenth picture maybe with the slightest possibility could be in Florida, but is most likely in a very old mountain range, i.e. the Ozarks or the lower Appalachians. That guy does not live in Florida...he looks like a kayaker or rafting guide from NC!
The eleventh picture shows a cactus species that could perhaps survive in Florida, but it looks like a Texas or Southwestern species.
The twelth picture shows a lake in the summer with mist. This implies the probably chilly lake is a good bit warmer than the air. In the summer, that can only mean one thing: mountainous or temperate region. The flora is indicative of a more temperate wet region, too. VA? TN? AR? Northern AL or GA? Not FL!
The thirteenth picture shows a light dusting of snow in an obviously wet, hilly area where the trees still have leaves on them. I say lower lower Appalachian or Ozark regions. Eastern TX or central AL, GA, etc. There is a small chance it could be somewhere in Florida...towards Tally.
The fourteeth picture shows an oil derrick. In Florida? I don't think so. Let's be stereotypical and say that it's probably in Texas.
The fifteenth picture shows a tornado that is one of the most popular tornado pictures on the net. I don't think anyone can truthfully say that Photoshop was not somehow involved and I don't think anyone even knows where the original photo was shot or what it may have looked like.
The last picture shows a rocky coastline. The only place in Florida it could be is Hutchinson Island. I would guess not Florida, though.
Simms you need to get around Florida more!

Oil has been drilled in FL, but that pic you really can't tell. There is/was some drilling in SW FL at some point IIRC

Prove it. I've seen a few rivers in Florida with "rapids". The picture shows Upper Class II to potentially Class III rapids. Unless one of our northern central rivers is at major flood stage I don't see how that is in Florida. Notice how wide it is.

You're right again, but come on, that's the only legitimate dam in Florida and apparently it's not even operational anymore. TN, AL, and GA have so many dams that look almost exactly like that who wouldn't guess one of those states?

Right again...Apalachicola, FL...how obscure, who the Hell is going to guess that scene is from FL?, which after doing a little research has one little obscure area like that. There are friggin subdivisions in Atlanta, subdivisions, that have scenes like that. Its not typical Florida and nobody should feel bad if they thought it was anywhere else listed.

Yea I've read that, too. Obscure. Let's trick everyone into thinking they know so little about Florida because they didn't know that there might have been one small oil derrick at some point in SW FL. LOL
Those rapids are Big Shoals on the Suwannee
http://www.floridastateparks.org/bigshoals/default.cfm
You're probably right about flood stage
Wow...yea normal Big Shoals and Big Shoals in the original picture posted are two different animals. LoL. Even Bull Sluice on the Chatooga can look like Lava Falls on the Colorado River at flood stage, haha.
Thanks for the input, though. I don't get the point of the OP posting a bunch of pictures of "The South" to "test our knowledge" when he posted a ton of reallllyyyyyy obscure pictures from Florida that were made to look like other southern states (and not all those pics are from Florida anyway). Was he trying to trick us? I've put in on the Santa Fe and on the Suwanee River to get to Cedar Key. I've been hunting in Lake City. My best friend lives in Naples. I'm no "Florida idiot" and I know that these pictures do not show typical Florida scenes. It was all a big trick. One can't even make educated guesses on tricks, so that's no fun (it's like saying you guys are all dumb, haha!).

But thanks for the pics...I guess. You should have asked where in Florida instead of where in the South? I think you'd be surprised how many people have been around the state pretty extensively. These are kind of like "the only hills in FL" and "the only small oil field in FL" and "the only slot canyon in FL" and "the only steel mill in FL" and "the only dam in FL" etc. Also, Big Shoals was at major, record flood stages in that pic. It normally looks like a "flowing river with a few rocks" LoL. I've been on the Santa Fe closer to where it empties into the Suwanee.

That picture of the Santa Fe River looks to have some significant elevation on the banks, which the Santa Fe definitely does not have.

It is rumored that there are caves all around Gainesville, and it's a closely guarded secret within the rock climbing community. I was never fortunate enough to find someone who 'knew', but it wasn't for lack of trying. I asked half the geology department about them and nobody would give me a straight answer.
Here you go Captain, there's never been a state that I wouldn't crawl under.

Also on the Santa Fe River, between highway 301 and I-75 there are lots of bluffs and some downright cliffs. Worthington Springs has a park with river access in the middle of this area.

Yep, Alachua, Marion and surrounding counties are full of caves. One place where they are easy to find are old limerock quarries. They usually have multiple caves on site, most were uncovered by the mining operations. There are still plenty natural ones though.
Ock, you could have included the Devil's Millhopper Park near Gainesville that looks like some limestone valley in GA. Paynes Prarie near Gainesville that looks like the mid-west and parts of the Oklawaha or Silver River that look like the flipping Amazon!

Good call on Devils Millhopper... I checked that out for the first time last last fall. It reminds me of the 'little grand canyon' in Lumpkin GA.
Amazon? Been there done that, not even close except perhaps in Ecuador where it is still a stream, hell in Belem in the air, when your over the center of it you cannot see either shore! It's different in Leticia but dirty as hell, more like the Flint in Georgia on Steroids.
But your right, there are so many unusual places in Florida, the Mill Hopper is very cool, so is Falling Waters State Park where a there is a free fall of water over 70 feet. Red Rocks on the Juniper Creek Canoe Trail in the distant panhandle is another strange place but I couldn't find a photo that does it justice. There are also photos of Falling Creek near Lake City that show it as a rugged cliff that could pass for the Ozarks, but the snow photo had more honest scale.
Isn't Florida a wonderful place even without the Mouse?
OCKLAWAHA
Anyone else have any "Unknown Florida," photos? Let's post them!
OCKLAWAHA
Great collection Ock. I was sure on all of them except the steel mill.... which a good assumption left me to believe it was Florida too.
The ridge is a beautiful area of the state and looks completely opposite of the typical Florida image. My son and I frequent that area with the Boy Scouts and I am awe stricken every time we visit. I've also tussled with Big and Small shoals on the Suawanee River in a canoe while on a 6 day Boy Scout summer trip down the river. There are plenty of bluffs, springs, shoals, and gators to see.
